Tiki Poke — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Ok. I shouldn’t but do get concerned when I go to a 5 or very close to 5 restaurant in a strip mall, BUT!, Tiki Poke definitely deserves the rating that it has. My daughter and I went here to eat. I had a poke bowl and she had her first sushi burrito. The ingredients were good and fresh, and there was a good selection of “fixins”. Although in a strip mall it is very decorated, it is very clean, and the food was delicious. They also had J-Pop playing which was a huge home run for us. They also had boba/bubble tea, and good flavor options, that was also delicious. Aside from what we ordered, they also had a good selection of appetizers, Donburi, and Ramen. They also have “signature bowls”. The staff (Tiffany) was friendly and patient as my daughter was deciding her add ins for the sushi burrito. Neighborhood spot for poke bowls and all kinds of teas which is exciting, admittedly I only go once every couple months. I decided to go on a hot and sunny Wednesday afternoon to take advantage of BOGO Bubble Teas on Wednesdays BUT it’s in-store only, not online. Upon going in store I was told they only offer the milk teas for BOGO and not the fruit teas, even though the fruit teas can come with tapioca- I was disappointed as I really did not want milk tea and I didn’t recall this being specified on the BOGO advertisement. The cashier did not offer ice and sugar level preferences which I’m used to being asked at every other bubble tea spot. Fresh Fruit tea options are limited also. I’ve tried several poke bowl places and their poke bowls are average in taste and flavor- unfortunately the unenthusiastic customer service did not save the day. Walked in to check it out and stayed for a late lunch. We had the Hawaiian Bowl (tuna,salmon and lots of yummy greens) and the Dragon Bowl (Eel, greens and sushi rice), miso soup and bubble teas. The bowls are huge with enough “sashimi “ protein, to wonder how they can afford it at $14.95 per huge bowl. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Now that we tasted their signature bowls, we will try to build our own next time. The restaurant is very clean and the staff very friendly, young and helpful. We noticed the customers that came in were young and fit. No wonder with such delicious, healthy, fresh food to chose from. We were the only ones dining in.
