This evening was 3 or 4th time we have been to their new location. We loved this restaurant and ate their frequently over a 17 year period when they were on Peninsula Blvd. I've never seen a place deteriorate so rapidly. After waiting nearly 6 months for them to open on Broadway we expected the same quality food. Didn't mind paying a little more for the new decor. But you've got to be kidding me! Don't understand how the quality of food could possibly stoop to this new low.
Pastrami that's grey in color served on a sale club roll. Chicken soup ( that was once the best in town) served with carrots that were also grey. A simple orange soda had to be made twice, before the waiter admitted the soda fountain machine had been out of order. What the heck happened to the Dr. Brown sodas? potato pancakes that tased as though they had been frozen, defrosted and refrozen then served. Where are the potato pancakes we loved so much... Gone! Franks that tasted like they were days old as well. I don't get it. They tell me it's the same chef.. Their take out counter looked like left overs from a Bar Mitzvah party that ended a week ago. Where are those delicious deli chickens? Where is the fresh cooked Pastrami , corn beef? Everything is out of sight and we would taste why. My God I'm embarrassed for the family. Four strikes and you OUT.. I feel very badly for the family, but this is no way to run a business. If they want to be successful, they've got to go back to doing things the way they did on Peninsula Blvd. Price is not the object when you get what you pay for. I'm sorry I had to write this negative review, it breaks my heart buy OMG! This place has changed significantly for the worst. Forget about the price, worry about your health after...
Read moreI have been a patron of Woodro Kosher Restaurant for over two decades, but my recent experience was deeply disappointing and has compelled me to share this review.
Feeling unwell, I called to order a simple soup 37 minutes before closing. The owner refused to take my order over the phone, insisting I come in person due to concerns about late pickups. Upon arrival, I mentioned that his phone demeanor was rude, hoping for an apology. Instead, he became increasingly hostile, throwing my soup containers into a bag with evident frustration.
This isn’t my first unpleasant encounter at Woodro, but it is certainly the most notable. The quality of the food has declined significantly, and with such unprofessional behavior from the owner, I can no longer support this establishment. It’s disheartening to see a place I’ve frequented since childhood deteriorate in this manner.
I will be taking my business elsewhere, to a restaurant that values its customers and maintains the quality and service standards that Woodro once had.
This sentiment is echoed by other patrons who have noted similar experiences with the owner’s rudeness and declining...
Read moreI hadn’t been to the Five Towns in 30+ years, and some of the reviews made me hesitant to go to Woodro. Luckily I went with gut instinct. Ordered the twin sandwiches of brisket and pastrami, both moist and delicious. Had a bowl of chicken noodle which had plenty of chicken and fresh vegetables-needed a little salt, but that was all. And how can you go wrong with a Gabila’s square knish and a Dr. Browns? Service was on point, as the very pleasant young man waited until I finished the soup before bringing the sandwiches. I don’t know the next time I’ll be out that way, but I hope the Woodro is still there. And for what it’s worth, the next day I went to Lido in Long Beach, which I found to be no...
