Rico's Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Town of Horseheads

It's a good thing I live only three minutes away from this place because I could not wait to get home to initiate this review. By the time I got to the restaurant the store had not been open even an hour, So everything appeared to be nice and clean with only two customers before me. Although the guy that took my order had gloves on he used those same gloves to take payment of the first customer and then proceeded to prepare my food with those same gloves. I made note it to him about it and instead of him just saying OK sure, and changing his gloves he proceeded to argue with me saying that the food was going into the oven anyway, to me food going in an oven does not negate the fact that you are handling germ filled money and credit cards and then touching food. I'm not sure if this is OK and allowed in the state of New York with the health department, as I am from out of state. The guy did eventually change his gloves but still he's telling me how it didn't matter, instead of arguing with someone about simple health code regulations, I decided not to eat from there. I am not in agreeable with restaurant staff arguing with a customer about the cleanliness of their foods and getting upset because a customer requests clean hands to THEIR touch food. if he did that right in front of my face imagine imagine his cleanliness when no one is looking. It's not often I eat out I actually prefer to cook my own foods at home because at least I then know how it's been handled, but I do try to help the economy with small businesses, but I could see this particular business did not care about the customer wants. So no, I would never return to that restaurant and if they're going to be that filthy about it, I do not recommend anyone...

I feel very sad writing this review because I’ve been a lover of Rico’s for many years. But the past few months has been a huge disappointment with the quality of the food. I’m not sure if it’s under new management? But every pizza the last 3 months has had those huge bread bubbles all over. Nobody wants those. I eat around those which means more than half the pizza is left uneaten. This rarely used to happen. The delivery boys are always very sweet & friendly! But tonight my pizza was made wrong. They gave me a small thick crust pizza when it’s supposed to be thin crust. Yes I ate 2 slices but I’m a thin slice person. I wondered if they maybe defaulted small pizzas now to thick crust but the boy who answered the phone told me no that’s how the thin crust is made. I said oh that’s interesting because I’ve been getting it for years and it always came thin crust never thick. He tried to blame the extra cheese? Again I’ve order the same kind of small pizza for over 10 years lol sooo…he was kind on phone but I wasn’t offered a refund or coupon even though their menu states they give refunds if your order wasn’t up to par. I won’t be going to this establishment anymore or recommending it. I live next door to Picnic Pizza so I guess that’s who I will give my business too for actual thin crust non...

I called tonight at 7:40 tonight to out order in for pickup. I explained three times I wanted my wings extremely well done, extra, extra, extra crispy wings hat I do not like slimy wings. I stated I’d rather them almost burnt then not done enough. So I show up about fifteen minutes later and he states my wings are done just has to put sauce on them and pizza is ready to go. He was in a rush on the phone and in person. He adds total up on cash register then just walks away. Whatever no big deal I figure probably closing soon. I drive home go to eat our food and the wings are not well done their slimy really slimy. I don’t even think they were cooked for as long as they regularly cook them. Very little sauce. I have been coming to Rico’s a long time and have never had a bad experience but when you pay almost $40 for wings and they’re not even cooked all the way that’s irritating. Forget well done they were still slimy so I put then in the oven and recooked them but just not what I was expecting.
