sweetgreen — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

Service here has been consistently slow, but today was the final straw. I waited 15 minutes while one employee took a long time checking out a single customer and then began cleaning without acknowledging anyone else waiting. I walked out.

This location seems understaffed and overwhelmed. If you want better service, try Just Salad across the street….they’re more efficient and better staffed. I’ve also had better Sweetgreen experiences in NYC. EDIT* I had to update this and take another star away.

Since my last experience went badly, I decided to give this place one more try because of the new Korean BBQ bowl that’s featured on the app. I ordered it while I was shopping, thinking maybe this time would be different.

Nope.

My food was delayed because, once again,they only had three people working. I watched the worker at the pickup section tell the customer before me that two of his ingredients were no longer available and he’d have to pick new ones. Then it was my turn, and same thing: they were out of spicy broccoli and kimchi. Those are pretty essential components of the Korean BBQ bowl… so why is it even being promoted if you don’t have the ingredients?

What surprised me most (but at this point, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised) is that it was only 1 PM on a Friday. How do you run out of ingredients that early in the day? You just opened! It’s becoming pretty clear this place is horribly managed…always short-staffed, running behind, and never quite ready. of hours ago. And if that’s the case, they should make it known on the app. The place was getting filled up and busy so I didn’t wanna make a big deal so I just said whatever just choose any toppings that you want. Promising but not executing on service correctly.

Food: 4/5 - Food was pretty good. We had the BBQ salad and Hot Honey Chicken Plate. Both were flavorful.

Service: 2/5 - This was the worst part... It's not that the people behind the counter were aloof, it was that there were not enough of them. On a Friday afternoon at lunchtime, they had 2 people working the line that continued to grow. They also had 1 person doing takeout orders. This equated to a very long wait. You don't need to be an expert in the restaurant business to see that this a staffing issue. They should have at least 5 people working the line at lunches, especially early on in an establishment's life staffing should be able to meet the demand and keep the wait down. This will certainly hurt the company’s potential as people who are on a lunch break are not going to want to wait for 20+ minutes.

Ambiance: 4/5 - Nice layout. Attractive decor. Lots of natural light.

Cleanliness: 5/5 - Very clean, even in the bathroom. Staff was wearing hats and gloves. They changed the gloves after working the register.

Value: 2/5 - The place is not cheap, and they skimp on the proteins. Our two lunches were $35, and they are skimping on the meat? Not good. You get one tiny spoonful.

Parking: 5/5 - Massive lot for the mall. No issue.

Overall: 3/5 - This could be a much better place if they address the staffing issue. They should hire 2-3 more people for the lunch/dinner shifts and give an extra scoop of protein on each plate. The value just isn't there.
