We had a 7pm reservation for 5 , 2 children and 3 adults, however we were not seated till 7:40. There were many empty tables and when we arrived the hostess left to check on our table and came back to say they were getting our table ready. After another 25 minutes another hostess asked if we were okay with a table that had a bench seat since we had 2 children we would all fit. We took the table and looked over the menu. The waitress came over to take our drink order and we ordered 1 glass of wine, 1 glass of the Rose Champagne, 2 Shirley Temples and a beer. The waitress came back with 1 glass of red wine and 1 glass of Rose wine, no other drinks. When she came back to take our order I explained that I had ordered the Rose Champagne not wine. She said she would take care of it. We started our meals, the full churrasco at the market table and when we returned we still had not received the beer, Shirley Temples or my champagne. The rose was still sitting there. At the one hour mark of being seated the girls finally got their drinks and about 5 minutes later the beer showed up. I asked again about my champagne and a while later another person, possibly a manager came to tell me they were out of the rose champagne and would the regular be okay. I said that would be fine. The regular Moët was the more expensive choice, so I chose the Rose since Moët is not my favorite. The Gauchos where prompt when you flipped your card, very friendly and polite. The food was excellent, especially the Coelho with honey! This was a special occasion, my birthday. We brought a special cake for dessert and they were more than happy to keep it cold till dessert and serve it, they even offered to sing and do candles which my daughter declined since she would like to see her next birthday. It had started to snow and the kids were getting tired .We had all ready been there over 2 hours so we asked for the cake back and the check. The prices were fair, but they actually changed me for the more expensive champagne after waiting over an hour to find out they didn’t have what I originally wanted. It appears that they are either short staffed or just completely disorganized. It seems that the right hand does not know what the left hand Is doing. I had a clear view of the bar from my seat and there were many times while we were waiting for our drinks that one of the 3 bartenders were just standing around . If you have tons of time I highly recommend for the food not...
Read moreI’m Brazilian, and this used to be my go-to spot when I was craving a comforting taste of home, but my last visit to Fogo in Huntington left me seriously disappointed.
We went on a Friday night around 7pm, expecting a lively dinner crowd, but the place was surprisingly quiet. Still, the service felt fragmented and rushed. One server would approach us just as another had introduced herself, and although we said we needed more time to choose a drink, they kept insisting we order. When I asked for recommendations — maybe something seasonal or new — they couldn’t suggest anything. For a Brazilian steakhouse, I expected a bit more flair and variety than just the usual caipirinha.
Speaking of caipirinhas… I understand palates vary, but as someone who grew up drinking the real thing, what we got wasn’t even close. I ordered the Strawberry Hibiscus Caipirinha and my husband had the Premium Passion Fruit Caipirinha — both tasted like straight cachaça with lime, completely missing the fruit flavors. Both were overly bitter and just… unpleasant. When we brought it up, the server agreed it didn’t even look like a passion fruit caipirinha and suggested the bartender may have changed the recipe. How does that happen in an upscale, established chain? She offered to bring us something else, but at that point we just stuck with our sparkling water.
Even Texas de Brazil — which isn’t perfect either — has offered us better cocktails, more variety, and a staff that actually knew what they were serving. That made this experience at Fogo feel even more disappointing.
The salad bar was also underwhelming. It looked like leftovers — minimal selection and tired presentation, especially for early in the evening.
The meats were mostly good, with one major miss: a dry, overcooked picanha shaved so thin it lost all its flavor.
The caramelized banana was burnt, it had a strong burnt sugar taste and a poor appearance.
The only thing we genuinely enjoyed was the dessert. The cheesecake brûlée was delicious, no complaints there.
We were also told the drinks would be taken off the check… but they still charged us (which we only noticed after we got home).
I’m not saying I’ll never come back, but if you’re going to charge upscale prices and claim to bring authentic Brazilian flavors, then the experience needs to reflect that. There are other great Brazilian spots popping up on Long Island, like AG Steakhouse in Westbury or Armazém do Brazil in Mineola (not rodízio, but the flavors are awesome). If Fogo doesn’t step it up, people will start favoring places that...
Read moreI was originally planning a birthday lunch at the carle place location today but saw the Huntington location was open so we decided to come here. What a good choice!
I usually go to the location in Manhattan but once carle place opened I went there a few times. It took about a month at carle place to dial it in and get the right temperature and right salt level.
Huntington nailed the temperature and salt level on my first visit, the second day of their official opening. If my experience follows course, this location will only get better.
I would say it would be hard to improve on. The bar is set very high. The food was phenomenal and the service??? OMG the trainers here are doing it right. Service was impeccable. Were there some slow times, cocktails taking a little longer to arrive, a certain bottle of wine that needs to be tracked down? Yes but they literally just opened. Give the servers some time to get accustomed to the location and how everything runs in unison (front vs back of house.)
Our new favorite is the garlic picanha. The picanha is great but the garlic picanha was delicious.
I had both their signature and premium caipirinha. Both are good but the premium one using aged liquor is more complex in flavor (similar to using either clase azul or 1800 milenio tequila in a margarita down the road at Lucharitos.)
Desserts? Yes please. We had tres leches, flan, and passion fruit mousse. All 3 were delicious in their own right (we usually do key lime pie and creme brulee, occasionally papaya cream.)
All in all a delicious lunch with attentive service.
Definitely worth follow up visits.
UPDATE 01/04/22........
Dining in is the way to go. I tried two to go orders and they have not figured that out yet. Lack of staff for that side of the line was the reason for the long delays. Both times it took over 40 min to receive the food. First time was ordering at the bar and the second time was placed online.
Lesson learned, dine in, take out is there but be prepared to wait.
Online order placed at 5:47. Instructed it will be ready by 6:08. Its now 30 past 6 and still...
