Mary's Pizza and Pasta — Restaurant in Town of Islip

We live locally and stopped going for a while due to their increase in prices the past few years. It also seemed every time we went in, they wanted you to order and get right back out the door. No hospitality at all. Tonight just reaffirmed that feeling after a 2 month hiatus. While waiting for our slices, I noticed there were new sodas in the fridge with Mary’s labels, clearly being made specifically for the restaurant, which I thought was super cool. I got excited and asked the woman at the counter, “Mary’s is making their own soda now?” She shrugged in a very uncaring manner and said, “I don’t know.” That kind of miffed me, so I turned to the man at the counter who was having casual conversation with another staff member, “hey, are the owners bottling their own soda now, that’s pretty cool!” He looked annoyed I even asked and kind of rolled his eyes and said, “it’s some bottling company.” The girl was ringing me up and I swear I wish I could’ve taken my card back because why would I want to buy soda from employees who don’t care about the place they work for. Wouldn’t you be excited to sell a new product? It’s just plain weird.

This was our first trip to Mary's Pizza & Restaurant (there is a private lot for parking). My husband and I went on a week night for a later dinner and were surprised at how busy it was. We were greeted and seated right away by a friendly staff. They brought us a basket of hot bread and drinks within a few minutes of seating. There are larger TV's on each wall that had local news and weather playing with no sound because there is music over the sound system that was happily not too loud. They had on air conditioning, but it was uncomfortably hot inside. I asked if they could turn the air up, the waiter said he did but it made no difference. We placed our order and the food was served in a timely manner; delivered fresh and steaming hot. The portion sizes were very large and even my husband had enough to bring enough left over dinner home to have the next day (he ordered pasta and meatballs which seemed to be made from scratch rather than frozen). We ordered several items including a grilled Chicken Panini. When I took the panini out of its tray, the lower section stuck to the tray's bottom. I looked down and thought I was looking at -extra bread-as the color was similar to bread-until I grabbed it and realized it was the chicken-uon the bottom of the actual bread. As you can see, it doesn't look like grilled chicken-and upon closer inspection it doesn't even look like cooked chicken. Regardless, I ate half....Now, in the past months I seem to have developed a sensitivity to not-well-cooked-chicken and have vomited and "past" -via my bowles- such chicken twice in the last two months. In the middle of the night-after eating this chicken I was forced from my bed and had to RUN to the bathroom as I was about to vomit-this chicken....I wrote the business and I'm writing this review for two reasons, 1, they served uncooked food and 2, they didn't have the decency or respect to respond to me.
