On August 2, 2021 I sent the following message to Danny’s Village Inn Facebook messenger. I never received a response or acknowledgement (today is Sept. 3), so now I will take it public. It pains me to do this, as we were good customers of Danny’s for many years: We are regular customers at Danny’s. We have always felt safe at Danny’s during the pandemic (and we supported you throughout the pandemic), but that changed last night. My husband and I are vaccinated; the sign on your door says that masks are required only if you are not vaccinated. We noticed that not one of your staff was wearing a mask, so we assumed that the entire staff is vaccinated. You know what they say about “assume” ……During our dinner, we had a conversation with one of your unmasked servers, who volunteered to us that she is not vaccinated and why she is not vaccinated. I didn’t want to create a scene, so I let it go. Why wasn’t she wearing a mask? Why is Danny’s requiring customers who aren’t vaccinated to wear a mask, but not requiring the unvaccinated staff to wear a mask? Why the double standard? I know help is hard to get, but you are putting not only your customers at risk, but the rest of your staff at risk as well. Knowing what I know now, I no longer feel safe at Danny’s, and we will not return until this entire situation improves.
Here is is June 19, 2025, almost 4 years later; I'll add to this review since I can't seem to post a separate one. This was my experience tonight: Tonight we planned to eat at Danny’s. It was a beautiful evening, so we brought our well-behaved, 15-pound dog, expecting to sit outside on the porch like we’ve done many times in summers past. My husband waited outside with the dog while I went in. I stood at the sign that said, “Please wait to be seated.” The restaurant was nearly empty—just one table occupied and a few people at the bar—but no one came to help. I eventually had to walk to the far end of the bar, where the only two employees were chatting. I interrupted their social to ask if we could sit outside with our dog. The waitress replied, “The tables haven’t been cleaned off.” I asked if one could be cleaned for us, and she repeated, “The tables haven’t been cleaned.” When I asked if there was outdoor service at all, she again repeated the same line. It became clear: the outdoor area hadn’t been set up for the season, and there was no intention of doing so tonight. The porch reflected that—tables were dirty, some without chairs, others with folded chairs leaned against the building. No plants, no flowers on tables—none of the usual welcoming touches. Still, we would’ve been happy with just one clean table. If Danny’s doesn’t plan to serve outdoors, they should just put the furniture away. Don’t create the illusion that it’s an option. C’mon, Vinny—you can do better. We walked down to Las Mañanitas, where the porch was clean, welcoming, and lively. We enjoyed a great dinner with...

Read moreWe stopped in last night on the way to our campsite. We’ve heard good things about Danny’s. First, we loved the hometown, old school feel of the restaurant. We could tell that there were many regulars there and that made us feel at home. A lovely young lady acknowledged us to begin with and while she was looking to get us a table another lady took over. She seated us yet forgot our menus. She took our drink order. Then a few minutes later a young man tried to take our drink order. Must be the tables aren’t assigned. When the lady finally came back with our drinks my bourbon sour was horrible. Straight lemon juice and bourbon. Tasted no sweet in the mix at all. Also, she never brought or asked about water or any other drinks to us get during our visit. Even when our glasses were empty. I added sugar packets to my drink and dealt with it. I ordered a starter special for my dinner. It was very good. I actually can’t wait for my left overs today. My husband ordered the fish and chips. It was so overcooked. Our server never once checked back with us at all. We sat and waited so that we could tell her but it never happened. My husband suffered through this fish because he was hungry and couldn’t wait any longer. We saw the server tending to the table next to us a few times. They looked like regulars. The next time we saw her she just came over and gave us the check with (that we waited a long time for now that we had long been finished). No personality and still never asked how our meal was. Seemed a bit annoyed that I wanted a to-go box. Overall, we’re disappointed. We were looking forward to Danny’s being a place we could regularly go to on our way back and forth to our camper where we are seasonal campers. I’m sorry for this review but I just had to...
