Wurtsboro Diner and Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Mamakating

My friend had been in this town previously and wanted to try this diner. The entrance was kinda non-discript but that all changed with the friendly greeting as soon as we entered and immediate seating. Our waitress was bright and bubbling with a great smile and offered us drinks. When she returned with the drinks we had just quickly looked over the specials. It's out of character for me but I immediately asked Chrystal for a recommendation, she asked a few questions about my likes to narrow it down, then said "do you like Philly cheese steak?" then told me obout their cheese steak burger. I ordered that and sweet potato fries. My friend ordered a steak sandwich and fries. The food was out fast and our waitress stopped by a few times to chat with us, OMG!!! our first bites were amazing! I couldn't wait to thank her for the suggestion! Both of us continued to be more and more in love with the food! Normally I cut the sandwich in half to take half home, I couldn't stop eating it and ate another quarter! We had a very poor experience here. The wait staff was not engaged, and at many points avoided eye contact and would forego letting us order to hold conversations with each other. Our order was messed up. Our food was not delivered on time. There was no sign of an apology or any apologetic attitude from the wait staffs management, just a mumbled sorry. The second waitress was very sweet, but she did not perform her job very well. I know she was thrown into a table that was waiting for a long time, but she did not inform us of known kitchen problems and instead tried to hide it from us. All around our experience here was very poor.

Even though we only passed by on a trip, that's not reason not to respect your guests and communicate with them. In the future I would heavily request that you be more intentional with your guests about communicating known issues, and checking in with the tables, especially if they've been there for over an hour with...

Long story short, we ordered Waffle and French toast Deluxe with fruit toppings and homefries to go..first they get my pickup name wrong..you can just call me "Jen" (from Sarah..what?)..then they mixed up the toppings, told me that's how they took the order but hey, my name is "Jen" so they couldn't have possibly heard wrong. Then they forgot to give us our bacon/ham/sausage, but by that point we had already eaten our food..I should have realized it when I noticed the first mistake but mistakes happen. I paid almost $30 and even called them to point this out, but the server who took the order had told me she was too busy to help me get to the bottom of this. I told her we will not be returning. The first two mistakes were not a big deal, but once we realized the third, that was the last strike. Rude and unprofessional. I dont care how busy it is, pay attention. Quality...
