pizza was very greasy, even the white pizza, which surprised me. there were no prices posted for the slices, or pasta, or anything honestly. thats a my bad because i should've asked, and had i known, we would've walked out. apparently white pizza is considered a "speciality" and was almost $10 for 2 slices. pizza flavor was your run of the mill NY style floppy pizza...staff wasn't very social to customers, definitely didnt feel welcomed at all, which bothers me since it seems like a high foot traffic area and i'm sure the have tourists. we are not local to the area, we live a good 3 hours away and i felt like i was intruding on their day. plus, to feed 3 people 2 slices each (2 plain, 2 pepperoni, and 2 white) and a drink (no fountain drinks here either...all bottles from the fridge) it was almost $40, which i find to be ridiculous. you can find cheaper and better pizza in Manhattan. We had a hockey tournament up in Elmsford and Larchmont, so we had to stay local. Very disappointed. Should've realized it wasn't great when i saw hundreds of people at other establishments on the block, but this place was empty at lunchtime on a saturday, unless you count the man who i assume is the owner sitting eating meatballs and staring rudely at people who come and go. Learned my lesson, i'll be visiting stanz or chat 19 for our...
Read moreI recently visited and, unfortunately, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience from start to finish.
First off, the service was incredibly slow. Despite the restaurant being only half full, it took over 45 minutes for our pizza to arrive. When it finally did, the staff was unapologetic and seemed indifferent to our frustration.
The pizza itself was a major letdown. The crust was soggy and undercooked, and the toppings were sparse and unevenly distributed. The cheese wasn't melted properly, resulting in a rubbery texture that was anything but appetizing. To make matters worse, the sauce was overly sweet and tasted like it came straight out of a can.
The ambiance of the restaurant didn't help either. The tables were sticky, and the place seemed generally unclean. We also had to deal with a constant draft from the poorly sealed windows, making our dining experience uncomfortable.
Given the high prices, I expected a much better quality of food and service. Sadly, did not live up to even the most basic expectations. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for...
Read moreI cannot say enough about this place. I used to spend just about every day here back in the 80's when I lived in Larchmont, NY. They have the VERY BEST pizza I have EVER tasted. I ate their so much that every so often Id get a free pizza. YAY. The staff at the time was super incredible and fun to be around. I used to come in often as well with the previous owner's good friend, Bernie. I also believe the previous owner's son has now taken over the business. I really wish I could take a trip back to NY and visit this place again but seeing how medical reasons prevent me from flying too far I cannot. :( I really wish they could ship their pizzas frozen to other states cause I would LOVE to pop one of those scrumptious pizzas in my oven at home and enjoy the very best pizza in the world. IMO. Thanks Villa Maria for the lasting wonderful impression. And if ya see them tell Jimmy and Bernie, Annette from North...
