Flaherty's Three Flags Inn — Restaurant in Town of Mendon

I've had my share of salads, and wasn't really looking forward to another as we walked into Flaherty's, tonight. I noticed a salad as a special, and thought "OK, it's salmon. I'm due for a dose", and decided to go healthy. Then it arrived...a "Fiesta Salmon Salad", served with dressing of choice (I drizzled a little poppyseed dressing...ended up a a fabulous choice, though they had Mexican Ranch). The salmon was done to ABSOLUTE perfection...pan-seared with some sort of cajun seasoning (the pan then likely baked at a high heat to complete). SO moist, cooked to perfection, two nice size pieces laid over a bed of spring greens, black beans, corn relish - and some fresh spinach I had asked to add, topped with crunchy yummy tortilla strips. I've had meals all over the world over the past 30 yrs, and this meal was the exception. And, the location is just a few minutes from me. Friends who arrived after me tasted my meal and ordered it, as well...they posted their love for this meal on FB, tonight! I've recommended the server to tell the chef put this meal on the regular menu, or at least on Fridays as their "Fish Grill" option for their "Fish Fries". I hope they do so....I'd consider making this meal my weekly ritual...with compliments to Flaherty's HF chef! (well, I was going to split my meal into two, saving half the salad for lunch, tomorrow. I waited 10 whole minutes and gave in....then placed another order to go, now in...

I arrived at 4:40 for dinner with my family of 5, 2 adults, 2 kids, and a toddler. There was a sea of open tables. I told the hostess the restaurant looked beautiful, and she replied with an exasperated “it doesn’t feel that way tonight.” Great greeting.

I thought maybe because we were 5 she was overwhelmed, even though the place looked more than half empty. I said my toddler is small and we can easily fit in a 4 top. She said she would get her manager. The manager came out, also as rude as can be, and said that “tonight, absolutely not!” I had no idea what she was talking about. I said than can we split into two booths? She refused us. She refused my family because we were a party of 5 and the restaurant was half empty! I still don’t understand what happened but I am utterly appalled by the horrible (lack of) service, kindness, or explanation. They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more, and when I checked as we were leaving the website still said there was no wait.

So the manager gets her wish I guess. My family of 5 will never return....

Flaherty's is a gorgeous and popular restaurant in Honeoye Falls. It is set right beside the creek. Seasonally there is outdoor porch and patio seating. Also chairs along the creek to view ducks , geese, and other wildlife. Beautiful view. Inside there are 2 large dining rooms, a beautiful full bar, booth seating, TV's and a lovely fireplace around the edges. The food is wonderful. I had the largest side salad I've ever seen, with generous blue cheese crumbles, delicious Mac and cheese and a glass of wine. It was fabulous. The take out container was so nice you can reuse it and add it to your plastic storage containers. If you come for St Patrick's day you will see some wait staff in kilts and a live bagpipe performance! Currently there are really classy classic Christmas decorations up all around. Very festive and beautiful. It is a great place to celebrate a special event or birthday also. You will love Flaherty's. It is one of our gems in...
