I want to preface this review with the following: waitress we had was lovely, and I don't want anything I say after this sentence to reflect on her. In fact, I hope she finds a better place to work after she reads this...she deserves better.

We came in on a Friday night. We're locals. My son just got home from a trip. We went out to eat to celebrate, this is rare and special for my family to do.

All three of us ordered a special. One fish fry, one salmon, and one veal stroganoff. We all ordered a beverage, which came in a small plastic cup. We didn't know it at the time, but their small cups do not come with refills.

The waitress offered us "fresh" rolls. They were cold. Whatever, we ate them. People will eat darn near anything if it's made of carbs and served with butter.

Next, came salads. Mostly iceberg lettuce, exactly two grape tomatoes each, three slices of onion, and two hunks of cucumber. The edges of the lettuce were wilted and rusted in some spots. We nibbled a bit, and waited.

...and waited, and waited. Our meals arrived. sigh

My son's "veal stroganoff" was atrocious looking. He immediately began pushing it around on his plate trying to make it look like he was eating. Kid was starving, and he eats EVERYTHING. Not a bite. On his plate, there literally was dry egg noodles with a chunky, brown, unappealing, sludge on top. There were soggy, and slimy, mushroom bits mixed in. The scant meat within the sludge sauce was tasteless, stringy, and mushy. Imagine a very soft and soggy pulled-pork. Exactly like that.

I do not have outrageous standards, but this is not what a veal stroganoff special should look like. It's not what it should taste like. It was nauseating.

Served with it, was steam-in-a-bag brocolli, cauliflower, and carrot mix. No joke. Those tell-tale ripple-cut carrot coins! They're charging nearly $20/plate!

The piece of fish I got was not fresh, it was frozen, and cool to the touch. The flesh was pale, crumbly, and mushy. There were soggy, tasteless, breadcrumbs on top, a puddle of oil underneath, and a lemon wedge. I took two bites- the first to see if it tasted better than it looked (it didn't), and the second to see if adding lemon and seasoning would make it edible (nope).

As for the fish fry...well, when I think of a fish fry, I think of a light fluffy beer batter with flaky, shiny, moist white-fish inside. What we received was NOT that. This fish was so over-fried that it looked like chicken. Mr. Man ate the whole thing. But he didn't like it, he was just hungry. He had to dunk each bite into the tartar sauce to soften it up.

When the waitress came and asked how the food was, I felt so bad complaining to such a nice person. I couldn't even look her in the eye. My son was nearly in tears. We never complain, but we couldn't eat it. We did not want anything else. We'd like to know what we owe, and we'd like to leave.

She didn't seem surprised, and went to speak to her manager. We waited for a while. I bet she even advocated for us. There's no way a server doesn't know how awful the food they're serving is!

When she comes back she says, "My manager told me to tell you that everybody else raves about the food. I am so sorry." And that was that. She asked if I wanted to "try" and speak with her boss myself.

We didn't feel like arguing with arrogance and denial like that. Handed over the debit card and forked over $50 for meals we didn't even eat

The food was terrible. The customer service was awful as well. We will certainly ever return.

Do you know what I had for dinner tonight? Trail mix from the Stewart's across the street. My kid had an eggwich. We preferred that to the "nursing home-esque" slop the Peppermill was serving. It really...

My family had lunch at noon on Black Friday. The place was less than half filled and service was fast and attentive. The restaurant is small and booth seating is less roomy than larger restaurants. We came here for the different selection of American diner food and their daily specials. We ordered two specials, the battered fish with mac and cheese and also the Salisbury steak with a side of rice. Our choice of sides were a puréed butternut squash and steamed veggies (from frozen). They also offered coleslaw. They also offered mashed potato or fries. Soup didn’t come as an option with the specials. I ordered a bowl of steak and barley soup. Our order of battered beans with ranch dip arrived quickly and crisp hot. The rest of our order followed. The desserts are not visible in a showcase at this restaurant. We didn’t order any dessert, and the waitress didn’t offer to ask us about dessert. We paid our bill at the register, and there was a bottle neck of patrons waiting to be seated and patrons waiting to pay. The entire restaurant is small, cozy and overall less spacious than other classic diners we’ve visited. The place is kid friendly, very popular with large groups of families and the experience, fast, friendly and affordable, made the food...

I have eaten at the Peppermill for years. his year the family that ran it retired and new owners took over. I have eaten breakfast since it changed hands and the quality was the same as the previous owner. Last night I went and ordered the early bird Pork Loin Schnitzel Cordon Bleu with Mushroom Sauce with a cup of the French Onion soup with cheese. I was disappointed right off the bat with the soup. It had a sour taste and very little onion flavor and not even a hint of beef stock as the soup was a blond color. Moving on to the schnitzel, one of my life favorites for its Marsala like gravy over the pork cutlet with ham and cheese on top. This version was nothing like the original. The cutlet was paper thin compared to the original. It was however cooked well and the toppings you can't mess up. The gravy was a big disappointment. It tasted like powdered gravy mix that had been thickened too much. There were about 3 mushroom slices in it but if I hadn't seen them I would have doubted it was mushroom gravy. It had no mushroom flavor what so ever. The vegetables were a mix that were obviously frozen and not fresh. Service was very good our waitress made sure our sodas were full. I may go back for breakfast and perhaps lunch but I have taken dinner...

The Peppermill Family Restaurant has exceeded our expectations. We were just driving through, never have been in this area, looking for someplace affordable and traditional to eat. I had the pork Loin Schnitzel Cordon Blue and my husband had the chicken penne Alfredo. Both meals were outrageous!!!! Especially the Schnitzel with mushroom gravy. Yummmm!!!!! Our waitress, Alexis, is awesome. She couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Thank you Alexis. 😊

First time stopping in at the Peppermill after passing it for a few years. Don't let the strip mall location fool you the food and service were great. The waitress mentioned the food was homemade. We stopped in for lunch and had a wrap and turkey club. Not as many options as a typical diner (no tuna for example) but still delicious. Our waitress was very friendly. For a lot of the sandwiches fires are an extra 2 dollars.
