A-1 Buffet & Sushi — Restaurant in Town of North Elba

Went for a quick lunch after grocery shopping. We have been here plenty of times and have enjoyed it. Today the food was not at temperature and was cool. I mentioned this to the waiter who was a good server and very polite. Spoke to another staff about it. Never did a manager come talk to us and I stated this food is not warm. It was not just one table either. I told him I could not eat this as I did not want to be sick. I was met with "Sorry" when paying the bill as we did have drinks. No reduction in bill at all even after staying yet again the food was not warm. Again...met with Sorry. 40.00 and not happy. Please check temps on steam tables and check your food. Just because steam is coming out of the table, doesn't mean it's warm. I do not normally write bad reviews, but the situation was...

This is kind of odd that I'm giving only three stars for the food, because it actually tasted quite good. However, some of the items that were in warming trays were not warm at all. I think it would be a great idea for them to do a better job of managing the food that's on the buffet.

Further, the service was not great. Obviously, at a buffet you are not relying a great deal on service, but an occasional visit for a drink refill would be nice. There was none of that .

If the restaurant had been extremely busy and they've been short-staffed I would totally understand. That was not the case .

Having said all of this, I'm not suggesting that you should not eat here. I probably will again... I would just encourage them to perform better, especially on managing the warming trays...

we went during dinner on a Sunday night and the food was fresh and there were plenty of other diners. The food is standard American Chinese food (lo mein, fried rice, various fried chicken items, variety of veggie dishes, dessert station, and to my surprise even crab legs) and the sushi is average/good for the $14.99 price. They were making new rolls frequently. The turnover of the items was high and the place was clean. I would say for the lake saranac and lake placid area, this is one of the better spots to eat if you're looking for Asian food. Service was pretty fast, we were quick to be seated and the plates were cleared quickly....
