This has been an unlucky spot to open a restaurant after the closing of the neighborhood stalwart, Ivy Cottage. But I think the luck is finally changing and a few restaurants later, Margarita's may have a chance. A few challenges off the bat are the lack of parking and that the space itself is somewhat limited to long and narrow. But they've done the most they can with the space and the décor inside has been fully transformed to a modern, classy, and festive Mexican theme. The staff were very friendly but clearly they are still working out some kinks and learning. The pricing is just about right for the cuisine (which is smart since when coupled with the good service you just naturally want to tip more generously). The gratis basket of tortilla chips and salsa gets you started off right. I found the salsa to be pretty mild but probably better than burning your tongue off before your meal. Of course we ordered the freshly made guacamole. This was probably the weakest part of the meal - it was a bit bland. I got the combo fajitas which is chicken, steak, and shrimp. The waiter surprisingly didn't realize the side accoutrements were for the fajitas and we had to help him out. The tortilla wrap was initially forgotten but they brought that right out. The steak was cooked to order - surprising since it was a relatively small piece. My friend got the chicken only fajita and the overall quantity of my combo appeared equivalent to his. The fajitas fillings were tasty - the tortilla was warm and soft. Plenty of guac, sour cream, pico de gallo, rice, and refried beans with cheese for toppings. My wife got the salmon salad and she said it was very good. She liked that it was lightly seasoned and cooked nicely. Since it was her birthday, the staff came around and boisterously sang happy birthday in English and Spanish. They put a massive sombrero on her head and then proceeded to pour a shot of tequila out of the bottle into her mouth. Awesome. The tres leches cake was indeed awesome. Overall - good times. Little rowdy. Tasty. Fun. Everything you'd want from your neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Definitely...
Read moreZero stars. Roaches in the place just like other reviewers say. Cheap food, bad incompitant service, not authentic Mexican food, salsa out of.a can and all too salty. Many other better Mexican places to go to for this money. Don't go here. Try Bisitos is great food n service. All Margaritas Cafe's are horrible. Heres another bad review from someone else:
beyond the worst service and management I have ever seen. we did not recieve our appetizers until after half the dinner came out and then thirty minutes later the other half of our table's order came out so we could not even enjoy our meal together. everything came out cold and the margaritas were disappointing. my taco salad came out wrong regardless of sending it back twice due to there being ground beef in there and I do not eat beef. We explained to the manager how unhappy we were and he just shrugged and said "sorry" and walked away - yes you read that correctly! pathetic!!!! I give this place six months before it shuts down. this was such a disappointing birthday dinner for my mother.
Heres someone else: ZERO Hospitality , Low quality food for the price they charge. The food was too salty and the soup was served COLD. A DISGRACE TO MEXICAN FOOD. If you want real mexican food DO NOT GO HERE. If you want good service DO NOT go here. Staff and manager very rude.
The place is a scam. Managers and owner listen to no one. You make phony replies that never address any issues. Your places are filthy, mismanaged, poor service and a rip off. You don't fool any customers. You only fool yourself and loosing customers to real...
Read moreVisited here for the first time with my husband and his cousin who was visiting NY. It was one of the few places that had available tables on a Friday night and took reservations. When we arrived we had to wait a few minutes for them to clear our table and the entire restaurant was super crowded. They did have glass partitions between tables but considering COVID-19 is airborne, those would do very little in terms of protection. Thankfully, we’re fully vaccinated. Our server was a real gem. She was so sweet and attentive. We had to yell everything across the table because it was sooooo loud! Turning the music down 10% would have made it more comfortable. When the mariachi band played, as fun and enjoyable as it was, the combination of that plus the music raised the noise levels to about 110 decibels. Workers should get their hearing tested. The food was alright. Nothing too special. Tostones were hard as rocks! Shrimp tacos were dry, overcooked, and flavorless. Chicken fajitas were bland. I actually ate the sides that accompanied my husband’s main course and didn’t touch my tacos again after 1 bite. The highlight of the night were the drinks. God damn they make a mean margarita! I tried the Willy’s Panchos margaritas. It was sooo strong but so delicious. This is definitely the place to go if you want great tasting and well-priced cocktails but don’t care too much about getting food. Everyone says the other locations are more spacious, perhaps I’ll try...
