The staff is nice and go to the diner often and every Holiday. The only issue is that they do NOT serve Poultry gravy for your chicken or turkey unless it is Thanksgiving. I am really not understanding how or why they do not have poultry gravy. They should have poultry gravy. NOT understanding how you put beef gravy on turkey. This is a health and safety concern. With people having health issues and food allergies it is even more dangerous for me and others. This is not the first time I told them about the beef gravy. At least this time I asked for the gravy on the side.

One of the best diners i know in queens/ nassau county. From the minute you walk in door there is a host. When you sit down cold ice water is served right away. Wait staff is prompt with taking your order and serving you. They check in on you during your meal. The food is fresh, hot and plenty! Worth the amount you pay. The tables are always clean and not sticky. The best part is no one has any attitude everyone who works here is happy and cheerful... Love this place

We were driving on the Long Island Expressway when we realized it was lunchtime and went in search of a restaurant so we decided to check out the New Hyde Park Diner . This was a brilliant decision since every thing we ate was delicious! Our server was helpful and while I can’t recall the last time I asked for a container, I wanted to take the rest of my tuna melt on pita home with me! I was also impressed that our booth had its own jukebox!

This is the first negative review I've ever written but I feel it's very necessary. Long but necessary.

I was hoping to have a great experience based on the 4 and half stars given, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I am not a difficult person to please when it comes to a diner. It's simple - have a big menu with different options and decent food.

This was by far the worst diner experience I've ever had. First, we asked what was on the garden omelet - they said mixed vegetables and never specified which - so my mom, who is vegetarian, ordered it with Swiss cheese. It came out with a bunch of mushrooms in it and no cheese anywhere in sight. She told the waiter it had no cheese and that, unfortunately, she wasn't aware there were mushrooms in it and is allergic to fungi so she would need it to be made without. His response was offputting. He said, "I told you it had mixed vegetables in it." Which all 3 of us responded with "yes, that usually does not include mushrooms, and if they are included, its usually specified." Mind you, the menu does not list ANYTHING that is in the omelet.

Next, I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken. I made it clear I did not want anchovies - joking with the waiter about how much I hate them! He assured me they wouldn't put them in the salad. Well, the salad came WITH the anchovies anyway. Because they were on a very small portions of the side of the salad, I was willing to take them out and just out them aside (obviously forgetting how potent they are) but upon doing so, one fell in my soup. I fished it out and tried to eat the soup anyway, but the anchovy taste was overwhelming. So I told the waiter and he seemed happy to replace it. However, upon walking away, he made a comment, "This is already finished anyway," which it was not even close to finished.

My moms omelet came back and again had no Swiss cheese on it. She searched the whole omelet, but there was no cheese - also no mushrooms, which was a plus. So she asked them to please put Swiss on it as that's what we sent it back for to begin with. They took it and came back with AMERICAN CHEESE ON TOP!! Obviously, we said this was not the correct cheese before they even set it down. They put the correct cheese after that but didn't seem too happy about it.

These are their mistakes now. Simple, very avoidable mistakes.

Shortly after this, I discovered my whole salad was basically not edible. The anchovies dripped all down into the bottom of the salad, so upon tossing the dressing into the salad - it all tasted like it. They did not offer to replace it, and I did not wish to keep returning things. At this point, we just gave up.

The chicken quesidillas were also not good. Just very low quality food like they don't really care about what they serve but want to charge Manhattan prices. Upon paying the $100 bill (1 kids chicken fingers, 1 salad, 1 soup, 1 omelet and 1 chicken quesadilla), my mother told the owner about the mistakes and his response was well there supposed to be anchovies in the salad and mushrooms in the omelet (which is not AT ALL specified on the menu). Which we responded with, yes, but we ordered without and just left.

I personally would've walked out of there saying that it was terrible ill never go back and never thought of it again but the response to their own mistakes was so bad that I felt the need to inform people of both.

Good luck if you do sit down here. The 4 and half stars def has to be driven up by people who...

THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!! IF YOU SPEAK ENGLISH, FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO EAT IF YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY EAT WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! I am just returning from the New Hyde Park Diner and I am very upset about my experience!! To begin with, I ordered, for take out, a hamburger and onion rings. I was very shocked when I found that my bill was $22!! Surely, something was amiss!! I discovered that the waitress had given me ONION RINGS AND FRENCH FRIES!!! I am big, but not that big!! So, after the order was corrected, my bill came to $14. Still VERY expensive for a hamburger and onion rings! I was thinking, " this had better be one helluva burger"! Oh, and since I was actually craving a steak and was blown away by the $25 steaks on the menu, I opted for a burger with STEAK SAUCE. The waitress said ok and gave me a to-go cup of what I thought was steak sauce. I later discovered that the steak sauce was actually BARBECUE SAUCE!! What??? I immediately phoned the diner and asked for the manager. He put me through to the waitress who said that she asked me if barbecue sauce was alright. You've got to be kidding me!!! I asked for STEAK SAUCE and that's what I wanted!! NOT barbecue sauce!! By the way, to me, there is a HUGE difference!! I again asked to speak with the manager and she had told him that I said it was ok for the barbecue sauce. By the way, the DID have steak sauce, because I was offered steak sauce when he asked me to come back and get it. The reason he gave me for all of the problems?? "SHE DOESN'T SPEAK ENGLISH"!! The only thing the manager said is that if I would come back, I could have a side order of steak sauce.

*THE HE PROCEEDED TO HANG UP ON ME!!!

Oh, and...the food was over cooked and not at all tasty!! I could have gotten a better meal, closer to home and way less expensive, at the Burger King on the corner!!! An overall AWFUL...

I used to love this diner! I had a bad experience a couple of years ago, and ownership did nothing to make it better. Today I wanted to take my Wife to breakfast for her birthday and I decided to let bygones be bygones and decided to try it again, maybe they had a bad day last time! I immediately noticed that their prices have skyrocketed! I get things cost more but it's $15 bucks for 2 eggs over with bacon!!!! Seriously!!?? You'd think for that kind of money I'd be in for a treat, but you'd be wrong, home fries were undercooked, under seasoned and some of the potatoes were almost raw! The bacon was somehow burnt on the edges and I couldn't chew it! I choose not to complain this time, because the last time I was there I was told the potatoes aren't what I paid for??? And they did nothing to keep my business! I will never step foot in this overpriced, underwhelming diner again! Whoever owns this place, I noticed you weren't all that busy like years ago when you were good. I'm not trying to hurt your business, as my Grandfather ran his own diner, difference is, he gave value and good food, not the embarrassing overpriced slop you now serve! My Grandfather would be absolutely embarrassed to serve the low quality breakfast that I paid $32 dollars for today! Your people don't even offer a coffee...
