The first time I ate at Jay's Place was 2- 3 years ago, and it was a great experience. The food and service were impeccable. I SO looked forward to going there again! However, when I was taken there a few nights ago for my birthday, our experience was NOT GOOD. The server had poor knowledge of the food- I was looking at the "6 oz sirloin with 1/2 Biloxi crab and mushroom". I asked our server what kind of crab it was- blue crab, dungeness, king, etc- and she didn't know.. " It's crab, heh heh" was the answer. Athe any rate, I ordered it, and when it came, (brought by a different server) it consisted of cut-up steak chunks and linguini with sauce w/mushrooms and shrimp. Obviously not what I had ordered. This new server proceeded to argue with me that it was what I had ordered. She finally took it back, and after my companions were all but done with their own dinners, our original server brought my dinner, which turned out to be a piece of unremarkable steak, and linguini with mushrooms and tiny little pieces of crab which I wouldn't have known were there. The title on the menu stated half crab, and that's what it should have been. I have recommended Jay's Place to so many people since the first time I ate there, and now I'm a bit embarrassed that I did. I don't know if they changed hands or managers or what, but they need some correction at this time. We left the server a $20 tip on a $93 dinner anyway, as we didn't wish to penalize her for what is likely more of a management/training issue. I'm just disappointed. Jay's was the one place around here that we thought we could count on for a superior, special dinner and...

Read moreI can't say enough good things about Jay's place. We visited family in NY & they suggested we go. BEST RECOMMENDATION EVER! The cocktails were made perfectly, the selection of drinks was great, the service was phenomenal from the hostess to the waitress to the chef. We tried the crawfish nachos and the calamari for an appetizer. I never would have thought to do cheese and crawfish together, but you MUST order them. The filet mignon tips with blue cheese, garlic and bacon was to die for with a side of what was quite possibly the most amazing mac and cheese of all time. (Seriously I'm so picky about my mac & we ended up ordering some to take home!) I cant wait to come back again....
