If you love Jamaican food, you will definitely end up with a “Constant Cravin” The food is loaded with authentic flavors and the business is family owned, which gives you that “eating at home feeling”. The people are very pleasant and polite; they walk you through the menu the first time there. The portions are HUGE. When I say huge, I mean a gigantic plate worth the price. Their stew chicken is very flavorful and moist; the sauce is amazing, which goes well with their delicious rice and peas and steam vegetables. The oxtail is my absolute favorite, the flavor is amazing and the meat is always very tender. Giving that my husband is Jamaican and If I may say so myself, he is an incredible cook. Therefore, we are not as consistent patrons as we should be. However, my neighbors who happen to be British have a “constant Cravin” for Peter’s Food, as they often call it. In addition, my brother in law is a regular at Cravin and raves about the food and the service. The few times that we have ordered, we have been left very satisfied with our choices. Don’t take my word for it, please stop by and see...
Read moreI found myself up in Wappinger Falls for an event, on my way south back to the city I needed something to eat before dealing with Saturday afternoon traffic.
I happened to stumble upon Cravin Jamaican Cuisine in Ossining online and decided to give them a try. A small little shop with a very attentive staff. I ordered a medium stew chicken and some chicken patties to go.
The food was delicious and a generous portion, I had plenty left to take home. I was not as much of a fan of the patties as I was the stew. They were not bad, I just have had the opportunity to try several from all over as well as my sister makes some awesome ones.
This was nice gem to find for both grab and go or a quick stop and grub on the spot.
When in the area again I would Mine stopping by again, even if it’s just to grab to food to go.
Just A Note:
They have some ice cream (Jamaican run raisin and grape nut to name a couple) that I was interested in trying. However I was full and wouldn’t travel well. Maybe next time I’ll eat the ice cream and save...
Read moreI ordered the small jerk chicken combo, which was a good price even before the buy one get one deal they were running. The meal with a soda was less than 20 bucks a head, and the food. The chicken was fall off the bone tender, and very moist. The jerk flavor itself was surprisingly mild, which I would normally ding a Jamaican place for (I don't really consider it to be jerk until it's melting the plate it's on) but the flavors here are so solid that I can't reasonably complain about it.
The cabbage was very well cooked too, and the rice. I got it with the oxtail sauce and you should too. Unbelievable.
I was actually depressed when the food was gone, until I remembered that I actually got two orders. If this place was an all you can eat buffet I would actually eat until I exploded. I can not believe I slept on this place for so long. Best bang for your buck in Ossining, and that's saying something considering all of the very cheap Latin American food around here.
I'm gonna have dreams about this rice. This...
