We walked in and experienced a massive wait of an hour and 20 minutes on their opening Friday night. The hostesses were very confused and giving different wait times to different people that walked up and alternating between an iPad and a piece of paper for reservations. There was visible stress on their faces and angry gossiping among them. We waited and eventually we were seated at a hightop bar table.
The menu was all over the place from deviled eggs to ramen to everything in-between. Our waitress was very nice but you can see she was overwhelmed and even said to us as she poured our water âpouring water is not my jobâ. I asked if the deviled eggs were good, and she was so distracted that she blurted out "No I wouldn't get that" then caught herself and said" I'm sorry I normally wouldn't say that but I'm overwhelmed".....at least she is honest. We ordered a cheese board and "pork sticks". The cheese board came first and was very strange. It features a few hunks of stale bread, three low quality cheeses and one slice of each meat which made it odd to share and decide who gets what. Next came our "Pork Sticks". They were just pork ribs with a bottled soy ginger glaze on Them. The pork was cooked very nicely, but the sauce was generic. The waitress at this point asked if she should fire our main course........we said YES! We waited for over an hour and a half to sit and we only ordered appetizers because we were starving at that point. We also thought it was strange to ask the customer about how to sequence the meal.
Then we waited for almost an hour and a half (not kidding) for our main dishes. Strangely, people around who arrived after us were already eating their meals. Our waitress finally brings our food to us at 10pm (we arrived and put our name down at 7pm and we were seated at about 8:20pm and now itâs 10pm). Itâs late, we are tired, and a bit frustrated, but trying to stay positive. We even looked up the hours of the local pizza place contemplating if we should just leave to get a slice of pizza at this point. Just when we were about to ask for the check to leave and grab a slice she brings our meal and says "you guys are the bomb dot com for waitingâ. She was trying to be nice, but this a bit frustrating.
For the main course my wife got the short ribs on potatoes. The rib was âsurface of the sunâ hot in the center, as dry as a bone and likely microwaved. A very small amount of mashed potatoes were drowned in the sauce. She didnât particularly care for any part of the dish and only had a few bites. For my main dish, I got the scallops on corn risotto. The scallops were cooked nicely, but the risotto was like eating bullets.
At this point it was obvious to us that they had completely forgotten to fire the main course and rushed this food out after a hour and a half. With that long of a wait, the least you could do is nail the main courses. The waitress at that point (without a complaint from us) âcompedâ some items on the check which was a nice gesture.
Oh and as a special P.S they have a desert cart that's MASSIVE that they roll around this place. Itâs so big that guests have to stand up and push in their chairs for this monster of an eyesore cart to pass through the dining area.
In conclusion, this was the worst dining experience I've had in years. If you are going to put "farm to table" or âfarm standâ signs all over your restaurant you need to be able to show quality and I'm just not seeing it in anything they are trying to do at this establishment. This restaurant is all about decor and atmosphere and not about cooking a good quality meal. It was a disappointment. Thanks for the comp but I'm not going to...
Read moreToday for lunch my friends and I from work decided to check out 317 Main Street . It's a huge place located in the heart of Farmingdale town. From the moment we walked in I was genuinely impressed with the restaurant.
We arrived at 11:45 and were promptly met at the door by the hostess who explained they don't serve until 12:00. She would be more than happy to put us at a table but just wanted to give us a heads up.
My friend Frank had been there a few times and said while we wait we might as well go check out the marketplace. Behind the restaurant behind an area they call 317 stage there is a room maybe 40 by 20 filled with the most beautiful desserts I have seen in such a long time. I took a few pictures and each dessert looked better than the next.
The four of us went back to the table and sat down for lunch. We started off ordering an appetizer of buffalo dip. It came with fresh fried potato chips and a a pot of buffalo dip. The chips were great.
One of the guys that I was with ordered five onion french onion soup. It is served in the hollowed out large onion which was a cool touch.
Each of us ordered burgers. 2 of them ordered the monster burger. It's HUGE. itt was 2 large patties and and chorizo. It was one of the largest burgers I've ever seen. My friend's Burger came out with bacon on it which it wasn't supposed to have and when he asked the server for the chorizo that was missing she ran off and got it immediately. There must have been some confusion on the ticket and thought he wanted bacon instead of chorizo
My friend and I ordered the burger special of the week. It was a single burger with arugula blue cheese and get this blueberry jam. The combination does not sound good I know but the waitress we had said to trust her it was really good. Well I did trust her and it wasn't good it was amazing. A lot of people do not like to mix sweet and savory together but I am not one of those people. The blueberry added just enough sweetness to make this phenomenal.
Most of us got a side order of brussel sprouts instead of french fries. They were definitely cooked well and had little chunks of bacon in them. Sometimes when you get them the bacon is overpowering but these were not. I was so impressed with them they will be my new go to when I go back.
I felt all of the burgers were cooked correctly and to the proper temperature that we asked for.
They have a full bar that looks like it would be a lot of fun for happy hour or hanging out after work.
At the end of the meal I was very impressed when chef Eric came over and said hello to the entire table. My friend said they have met him before, and I had as well through a chamber of commerce event I went to... Not that he would remember me. He was such a nice guy. It's the little things like this that make me very happy to visit a place again.
I wish I had gotten the waitresses name as she was so attentive and made everybody feel comfortable. Phenomenal service awesome food and a great...

I was close to Farmingdale Village, after I saw the movie Cabrini today, and remembered I had the restaurant 317 Main Street on my Burger hit list, so off I went, after the movie.
I first asked about their Old Fashioneds..
He did tell me they just muddle regular sugar, and used bitters, not sure which one, or two, they use, a sour cherry, and an Orange peel...
It was a small level above average...
nothing special, or drive to worthy..
Wasnt bad, just needs a few tweaks in my book, to get me back there for another one.
For a $17 Ezra , please use at least brown sugar, or cane sugar, simple syrupđ¤Ł
I had heard raves about this burger.
I was really looking forward to trying it, as they say on the menu, that the burger meat has a blend of chuck, short loin, and brisket.
I ordered the burger my usual medium rare, hold the rabbit food, please , make sure the bun is toasted...Fries, extra crispy, please.
The burger came to me a near perfect medium rare.
The bun was perfectly toasted, and added a nice taste, and texture contrast, to the burger, and the meat was still a bit juicy, as I bit into it.
The burger was certainly good, but it did not wow me like I thought it would with that marque meat blend..đ¤
It was very mild in taste; missing what I thought would deliver some earthiness from the chuck and brisket, and almost zero saltiness that usually comes from the brisket..Short loin is typically mild with the NY Strip and Filet(T-Bone) not giving off a whole lot of punch in the flavor department.
The price point was acceptable at $15 for that blend of meat..Cheese was extra, I didnt ask how much, because I wasnt ordering itđ¤ˇââď¸
Bun to meat ratio was fine
It was not a bad burger, but like I said, it didnt wow me.
It would not make it into my Top 10, but would certainly qualify as a really good bar burger.
The fries were really good..You could tell they were hand cut, in house.
Service was fine for a busy Friday night.
Place was busy, as most tables in the front and back room were filled, and a band was setting up as I was leaving.
Parking..I got there a little before 6 ish, and was lucky to get a spot...It's metered parking.. You need to remember your paking spot number, then go find a machine...You'd be better to download the Parking App...I payed in cash at the machine, but it did not print a receipt đĄđĄ
I HATE METERED PARKINGđIt's like these municipalities are sucking blood out of a stone..
Next!!
317...
