Overall: Sub Par Experience.
Came with a group of 5. We entered and were immediately greeted by the friendliest gentleman at the counter as we waited on our table to be ready, when we left the same gentleman thanked us for coming in and bid us farewell very politely. Front desk guy gets a 10/10.
The issue came with the service. The waitress came to take our order and asked if we wanted all items on one ticket. We told the waitress that we would like all 5 tickets to be seprate, she appeared to be visibly annoyed with this request even though she was the one that asked us. The manager heard us say we would like seprare tickets and had to come over to tell our waitress that they can in fact do that for us, so it may have been a new employee on training, no big deal. Its what happened afterwards that struck me the wrong way.
-We were each given one small glass of water which was never refilled the entire time we were there (over an hour)
-One member in our group asked for a substitution on his order which the waitress denied.
-Food comes out and it was delicious. Would 100% eat there again, although it would have to be with a different waitress or takeout. Food gets a 9/10
-After eating it took around 15 minutes for the waitress to check on our table and bring us our bills.
-She collected our cards and before she left the table asked us if we wanted to give her 18% or a 20% tip. We politely informed her that we would write in the tip amount after getting our receipt and cards back... just like literally any other restaurant. She seemed puzzled by this request but reluctantly went to run our cards and bring back the receipts.
Overall our waitress is what ruined the experience. Not sure if it was due to a lack of training or what. I would return if I got a different server or just to pick up a...

I have loved this place and have been many times but feel I need to express an experience I had here. I dined with friends and everything was amazing. We split the bill 3 ways, but I tipped for my friend because I had owed her money previously. Before we left our waitress blocked us from leaving the booth and checked each of our bills, I assume to make sure we tipped enough. I could already tell what she was doing and was a bit annoyed, but when she looked at my friend and accused her of not tipping I was so embarrassed. Why did I have to explain to our waitress the financial situation? That I had tipped for my friend and she had nothing to worry about. She also wasn’t understanding me so I had to explain a few times to stop worrying as we had left her a great tip, just on the other 2 bills. A very nice Japanese restaurant local to the Glen Cove area. It's a small to medium sized space, with a full bar, as well as tables and some booths. The menu is reasonably complete with your basic Sushi sashimi and Japanese Cuisine. The Bento boxes were nice, the Sashimi was reasonable, the hand rolls were very good. The sushi used in the Nigeria and Maki was good, but the rice in the Bento was a little undercooked. The tempura was very well received.
The service was excellent, and it was quick seating and constant good service. The parking lot is not particularly large, so finding a spot could be a little tight. If you're going with a group it might be worth consolidating...
