I've never eaten at a Vietnamese Restaurant before, so my review has that caveat.
First, the restaurant was very well lit and full of Asian-Americans. (good sign). Our hostess was very pleasant and the wash room was well kept. (another good sign).
We started with the Vietnamese Spring Rolls for appetizers which were quickly devoured. Unfortunately, I lack a gastronomical lexicon, but the dipping sauce that went with the spring rolls was unique to my palate, but it was a perfect complement.
My wife had the Thai Tea and I had the pleasure of tasting the Lemon Green Tea. It remained cold and fresh tasting one hour after we had completed our meal. The beverages were tall enough to last the whole meal. I had a sip of the Thai Tea and to be honest it tasted similar to all the other Thai Teas I have ever had.
My entree was the curry chicken with rice. It was a huge portion that lasted me 2 days. Everything complemented each other well. My wife had the rice noodle soup with fresh beef slices. Soup was less salty than ramen soup. The noodles were of a thinner consistency, but plentiful and the meat was well prepared. I know it was good because our daughter (who is super picky) ate her portion without complain.
My favorite dish was the Thai popcorn chicken. I have never tasted anything like it before. I don't think toddlers would enjoy it as it was breaded differently than the usual popcorn chicken which American kids are accustomed (duh, right?). However, this adult loved it and again the portion was plentiful that we brought the left overs for the next day.
We just happened to chance upon Top Pho's by accident, but I think the next time we visit will be because of the memorable dining experience.
Why not 5 stars? The curry chicken did take a lengthy time to arrive. Everything else...
Read moreI don't know what happened to this place. Whether it be new management or if it was because I ordered 30mins before they closed. But what I got tonight was absolutely disgusting and inedible. I ordered the number 27 (vermicelli with grilled chicken and spring roll) and shrimp summer roll. The vermicelli was drenched in this bitter soy sauce, not too sure what it was. The spring rolls were burnt and not tasty at all. The chicken tasted old. As for the summer rolls, what a joke. They didn't even offer the peanut sauce. What I got was this bitter vinegary thick sauce like concoction. I literally threw away almost all of the food. I don't mind paying for the overpriced dishes, but can you at least make it edible? authentic at the very least?? I'm so disappointed. They lost a customer for...
Read moreStopped in for lunch last week after driving by several times. They were quick to greet and seat us. All the servers were friendly and came by to ask if we had any questions (menu is easy read/understand with some pictures for anyone wanting to try Vietnamese food for the first time and has lots of good choices so it took some time to decide what to order). We chose some iced thai milk tea, delicious shrimp summer rolls (on the small side), pho with beef slices + brisket (14) and special house pho (23)...everything was flavorful and delicious! Very clean and great decor make you glad to not have to go all the way to Queens . Great place to try if you haven't had Vietnamese food before and we'll be...
