My husband called on Tues., May 7, to make reservations for 2 for a special occasion dinner the next evening and requested a window table. Whoever answered the phone happily assured him that it would be no problem. As an aside, we have always made reservations, requested a window table, and have always had that request honored. When we arrived the next night, all of the window tables were occupied. When we told the hostess (Lauren) that we'd asked for a window table, she started mumbling something about reservations and window tables being for parties of four. We told her that whoever was answering the phone the previous night had assured us that it would be no problem. We asked who had taken our call, she said, "That probably was me." Without any type of apology offered she then led us to a table across from the windows.
Not a good start. We then had a server who brought our entrees while I was not even half way finished with my soup. I said I wasn't done with my soup yet and she said she had looked over and thought I was almost done. She said it wasn't very busy and meals were coming out quickly. Again, no apology or offer to take back our meals. I had to decide whether to keep eating my lobster bisque and let my meal get cold, or not finish my soup.
All-in-all it was a very disappointing experience from beginning to end. I asked how to contact Joey, no one was able to give my a complete email address. I finally was able to find one and sent him a note two days later. Almost three weeks later, with absolutely no response from him, I printed out a copy and dropped it off at the restaurant. In fact, I handed it personally to his father who wanted to know what the problem was. I explained and he told me his son was very concerned about his customers.
It has been another week and no contact from Joey. Apparently he doesn't...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a ZERO. The was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant in my entire life. We had reservations, and we were surprisingly seated fairly quickly, but we were sitting at a pretty crappy table. A hostess put some bread on our table without saying anything to us, and then we waited for about 15 minutes for someone to come over and get our drink orders. The waiter seemed pleasant, somewhat sarcastic towards my boyfriend though. We finally got our drinks, and ordered our food. My boyfriend got chicken parm and I ordered the "homemade" ravioli. When the food finally came I was SHOCKED. There was literally FOUR ravioli on my plate.......FOUR!!! Mind you this dish was $14! They weren't even large ravioli and they were not stuffed with cheese either. I asked our waiter how much this dish was again, and he said $14, so I said "So $14 for 4 ravioli? Are you serious?" He didn't even reapond, basically just grabbed the manager and said here you deal with this. The manager looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was upset with the price, and he said "Did you try them? They are filling." I said no I hadn't tried them and that they weren't even vety large, and he said "Well they are homemade." I said "Yeah and I am Italian and have made ravioli homemade and it wouldn't cost this much." He asked me if I wanted something else and I didn't really even want anything, but I got the gnocchi. The sauce was absolutely disgusting, the gnocchi had NO flavor. It was awful. The way the waiter treated us after this happened was terrible. He was so rude. Put our check on our table without saying a word and then took our payment without saying anything to us either. Needless to say I didn't leave much of a tip. The whole experience was just terrible. I would never go...
Read moreThis was our first visit on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was very busy and we waited a few minutes in busy traffic area. The owner was very pleasant, greeted us and tried to make us feel welcome. After being seated things went down hill. The wait was excessive for every phase of the meal. No butter on the table but there was oil & vinegar (should offer both). It took over 40 minutes to get our main courses. We were not offered more bread or and apology for the long wait until our meals arrived. Our server was invisible (she was pleasant but did nothing to comfort the excessive wait). My wife got lasagna which was good size and tasty. My chicken marsala was tasty also but rather small. I ate it in about 3 minutes after the long wait. BIG issue was the noise! We could not hear each other without shouting. We reverted to reading lips. By far the loudest restaurant ever! I believe fabric room dividers between every other table or so would provide some privacy and sound deadening. The other issue was the temperature. We nearly froze to death however the air vent was just above our table (a simple fix-why didn't they?). I put my jacket on and was still cold (I am usually not cold at restaurants). In short, a very pleasant owner, nice atmosphere, good food but inconsistent portion sizes (some large, some too small), long wait for food, fair to poor service (due to wait), very loud to the point that everyone had to be loud, and don't sit by the A/C vent. We have many excellent Italian restaurants in Rochester. I think this one has potential but the kinks should be...
