Worst experience I've ever had at any establishment. Went for an ice cream Sunday evening with my girlfriend, what could possibly go wrong? Our order was a double in a dish with 2 toppings, a single with 1 topping and a bottle of water. $24.15...? We questioned if that was right, and the girl said "that's what the register says". We asked if she was sure, she said yes because you bought the water. We get the receipt and walk out and as I'm looking at the receipt I notice that it doesn't even say what our order was. My girlfriend stays outside and I go back in to double check the price because there's no way two ice creams and water costs $24.15.
I'm talking to the girl about double checking the price and I can tell she's a little nervous so I'm being as polite as possible knowing it was just a small mistake. She grabs a manager who is another young girl, the manager plugs in our order to the VERY old and outdated register (which is the main cause of the problem) and it came out to $13.20. So now we know that the price was incorrect so I'm just waiting for a refund for the difference... the manager didn't know how to do a refund for a credit card.
At this point I'm standing there eating my melting ice cream in front of the register as the manager is scrambling trying to figure out how to do a refund and my girlfriend is outside eating her ice cream waiting for me wondering what is going on. After a minute or two of the manager pressing buttons trying to figure it out, she goes in the back and calls the owner. There is now a line of people behind us, my girlfriend had come back in and we are standing at the register as the owner is talking to the manager on the phone going step by step on how to do the refund. It had been between 5 and 10 minutes and we have finished our ice creams and the manager finally gets off the phone after the card had been refunded the $24.15. Another worker is now cashing out the people behind us, and the manager tells us we just have to wait a minute for them to finish their transaction so they can charge me the correct amount for the order. So instead of offering us a discount, or even giving it to us for free due to the horrible experience and inconvenience I was still charged full price. I didn't even open the water bottle yet, so I just told her she can take the water back since we were already done and ready to go home anyway. So the price was corrected to $11.20.
I honestly couldn't even tell you if the ice cream was good because I ate the entire thing standing in front of the register while they were trying to correct their mistake all while the people in line were staring wondering what was going on. So between the first girl going by "that's what the register says", the manager not knowing how to perform a refund, the owner and manager not offering any sort of discount, and getting to "enjoy" the ice cream in front of the cash register while my girlfriend is outside.... This was the ice cream date from hell. Obviously, I will never go back but all I can say is there was some entertainment value and we did share a good laugh about it as there is no way I will ever have an ice cream experience like that ever again.
My suggestion... use a cash register from the past decade and have your managers be capable of doing refunds. If you do make a mistake, and inconvenience the customer maybe offer them a discount as well. All in all, horrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVERY Dissapointed! Went for ice cream this evening with my husband and puppy. We purchased two cones one chocolate one vanilla. We sat down to eat them outside and my husband indicated his vanilla did not taste very creamy but more like their were icicles through it. He tasted mine and said yes thatās the way it should taste. Since we had just begun eating I took his back inside to ask for an exchange of the vanilla for a second chocolate. The manager tasted the vanilla and told me it was just fine and there was nothing they could do. He did tell me that the chocolate was just made and the vanilla was at least an hour old. So that was the reason for the difference. Very dissapointed that the manager would not Be willing to listen to a customer and make right the situation. With all the other choices for ice cream ... he has lost our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy favorite ice cream. Frozen custard, to be exact. Creamy, smooth, delicious, and fresh. You can watch the ice cream being made right before your eyes as it is extruded from the maker machine. My favorite flavor of my favorite ice cream? Vanilla. Don't get me wrong. I love their chocolate, strawberry and mocha flavors, too. And, according to my favorite ice cream-eating companion, their fruity flavors, like black cherry and peach are great, too. I love lots of different flavors in my ice cream. But I think if you can make a vanilla that is flavorful enough to stand on its own, then you understand how to make good ice cream. And Abbott's does. I especially enjoy sundaes at Abbott's. I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Cup and Brownie...
