I will never visit this establishment again. Today my wife and I went for brunch and we ordered "the barge" breakfast burrito. I took them over to the table after waiting 30mins and immediately noticed a hair in my wife's burrito. She is easy going and understands sometimes things like that happen and let it go. Well I get to my second half of my burrito and sure enough a hair inside it. I couldn't even believe it I was so disgusted I immediately walked out. I was so annoyed at that point and there was a line that I didn't even bother going up to the counter to complain Two burritos we ordered and both had hair. Unacceptable and disgusting to say the least. My other complaint was the burrito description says it had hash browns. Instead ours had huge chunks of undercooked/raw potatoes. Just all around a horrible experience that was a waste of $30. *Update* the owner’s response is laughable it truly shows how unprofessional this “small business” is. Ignoring the fact that other reviews stated the same thing with the raw potatoes, ignoring the clear picture of the hair inside the burrito and wanting to say it’s “suspect” of me paying $30. Okay so let’s do the math 2x burritos is $18 plus the two coffees we bought at $4.75 each add that up plus tax it’s around $30. So again it’s just showing how instead of the owner fixing the issue or acknowledging my experience in a professional manner they would rather be immature and resort to calling a customer a “jerk”. That’s the epitome of a bad business owner and not a place I would ever give my business nor would I recommend anyone give them their business. If you can’t take constructive criticism maybe try something else.

Tucked away along the Erie Canal, Neutral Ground Coffeehouse in Pittsford, NY offers a warm, rustic vibe ideal for a casual stop with your favorite coffee buddy—in my case, my daughter. We swung by for a late afternoon coffee and light lunch, hoping to discover a new favorite. While the setting was charming, the food was a mixed bag. I started with their Bruschetta Soup, which looked hearty in the bowl and came packed with chunky tomato, zucchini, and subtle herbs. However, the flavor didn’t quite pop—pleasantly warm, yes, but lacking the richness or depth you’d expect from a soup inspired by such a vibrant dish. It felt more like a watered-down marinara than a comforting café standout. My daughter ordered “The Towpath”, a toasted sandwich stuffed with fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and gooey melted cheese on perfectly grilled bread. This one definitely delivered on flavor and comfort—the salty-savory balance and texture of the bacon were on point, making it the highlight of our meal. As for the latte, it was fine. Smooth and creamy, but nothing that would have me veering off my usual route just to sip it again. Neutral Ground is a lovely place for a quick catch-up, but next time, I’ll stick to the baked goods or try a different sandwich. Overall: cozy spot, but menu hits and misses.

We were in need of some great tasting coffee and we decided to try neutral ground after seeing it pop up in the search. We walked in and it was slightly cluttered, they had a cart with wine in the middle of the place with the attic ladder down we had to make our way around it to get to the counter. We weren't really greeted at all by the cashier. Just a "what can I get for you " we ordered our coffee and food and took a seat and we noticed it was pretty dirty and hasn't been cleaned, so we wiped it off. The coffee was ready in about 5 minutes and tasted good. Then we waited for our food. In the meantime from the looks of it....the food prep girl came out and started stocking the wine bottles upstairs with food prep gloves on, then proceeded back into the kitchen and did not change the gloves at all!! After that she cashiered for a couple people also wearing the gloves and went right back to cooking!! We were extremely worried about the cleanliness of the food prep stations. And after about 25 minutes our food finally arrived. It was good but nothing to tell anyone about. For a basic sandwich with egg and sausage it should have not taken 25 minutes.

This is not the first time I was here. What I like about this coffeeshop is the coffee, and the view on the river, the cozy inside, and the fact that it's usually not overly full, probably, because the parking spots are a few steps behind, and not right in front or next to the entrance. What I think went downhill the last couple of times I have been here, was the cleanliness of the tables and the service stations. Everything was literally sticky enough, I thought, some little kid had touched it with honey-fingers, just before I arrived. And definitely improvement-worthy are both, the service, and the food/price ratio. Service: Please, hire someone who looks like they actually want to be there, and doesn't look like you're disturbing them by entering through the front door! There was barely a greeting, the facial expression was as sour as if it was an insult it was a work day, and how dare I ordering? It's also quite rude starting to put up the chais on the tables 45 minutes before closing the restaurant! It makes the guests feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not nice! I ordered different breakfast dishes at different visits, a parfait, a sandwich, and the avocado-toast today, and not one of them was tasty, rich, vitamin-infused, or well-cooked enough to justify the price they're asking for, I'm sorry. The coffees are excellent, the dishes are not. I think, after today's visit I consider looking around for another coffeeshop that's worth spending...

I first chanced upon this place after a long canal-side walk in the sweltering sun. The delicious iced lemonade appeared like a mirage, and I've since returned to try the more enticingly creative items on the menu. The Lavender Cappuccinos are delightful and the Breakfast Chowder is hearty, brilliant, and the perfect choice for a maximalist in the mood for a warm bit of Everything.

I love walking into a place and feeling instantly welcome, and that's an experience I can count on sharing with anyone I bring to Neutral Ground, even from vastly disparate walks of life. The staff is well-chosen, and the owner is exceptionally kind, always ready with a smile for anyone who visits.

I was walking in today to pick up a to-go order (all in black), and as I approached the entrance, the owner gently urged a white dog to move aside far enough to not shed on me as I brushed past. It never would have occurred to me to worry about that, but the extra gesture demonstrates the attention to detail that goes into every facet of this charming, local business. What a wonderful addition to the community!

If you're in the mood for something sweet, the raspberry cappuccino is always a treat. With picnic benches and Adirondack chairs out front, and benches on the canal-side pavilion just across the way, there are many indoor and outdoor places to enjoy...
