refusal of service
Today I went into Eastdale Ave Bagels after many times of enjoying the breakfast sandwiches here I was super excited and looking forward to it because I have been craving it for the past few days I went in with my mother who happens to be allergic to sesame and told this to the man who was working as the cashier this morning and he refused our service. Not only did he refuse our service but its the tone and manner that he had about it that was rude and very off putting. It was very unprofessional. After refusing our service my mom had asked about simple allergen measures such as cleaning off the spaces/counter, changing gloves and using a different knife for her order as we do understand that it is not 100% guaranteed that they can ensure that there will be no trace of sesame at all which would be our decision in continuing to eat here not the fault of this establishment while trying to explain this he cut her off in conversation and told her he was uncomfortable serving her and told her there is sesame everywhere and then proceeded to tell her she can have a muffin instead. I was very confused because we had been here before many times and had told the younger lady cashier that usually works up front about the allergy and had no problem all the other times we’ve been here. I was honestly shocked, confused, and taken back because no food establishment within the 5 years that she has had this allergen has ever refused service. It made me feel very sad because it felt very discriminatory as this is something out of my mothers control. We go out to eat all the time all over to all different kinds of restaurants and eateries and have never had an issue with any of places refusing our service. Especially noting that places such as Asian cuisine, Chinese food, Korean food, and Japanese food use a lot of sesame in their foods, it is an ingredient most used out of any other culture and which we do eat frequently and those places have always taken those very simple measures and have taken care of us and have never made us feel like a burden or a problem and refused our service. That being said there is no excuse at all. After leaving my favorite bagel place today its unfortunate to say i will not be returning here and supporting this business. We left and we went to Bagel World where we were taken care of with no issue...

This is by far, without a question or a single doubt in my body, the best bagel, breakfast, and quick lunch spot in Dutchess County. This is it, right here. Your search ends here.
When you walk in, the place smells great and remarkably clean as far as I’m concerned. Great selection of bagels - super fresh, and the breakfast sandwiches never disappoint. The options are really endless and to boot, the lunch menu is delicious and really affordable priced.
For me, I’ve always downplayed how lucky I am being a native to this area and being very close in proximity to the five boroughs.
For me, nothing comes close to even remotely touching a proper New York City bagel. Handmade by an old Jewish guy you’ve known for years, and tastes exactly the way it tasted 10+ years ago. That’s the stuff right there. Additionally, the water in NYC is arguably the best in the country, and so my standards for what makes a good bagel are slightly biased in being a native to New York State. A proper bagel should be fast, cheap, and better than the majority of the country. Lox and schmear included.
Where I’m going with this is that what you’re getting here is pretty darn close to what you get down there, and what really seals the deal for me is how cheap everything is here and how the price to quality ratio is just unmatched.
Long story short,...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. Been here multiple times and always liked their bagels and sandwiches. However, I will not be returning. Yesterday I went in with my wife, and it was the usual busy, maybe even more than normal. We placed our order and stood back to wait, knowing full well it'd be a while. After 35 minutes I went to check on our order because we saw so many customers getting their orders who had come in after us. The young worker started to look for our order slip, and then eventually found the order bagged and on the shelf for online order pick up. I said to him, you are calling out order after order to those ordering on site, why was my order placed and not called out. He said "we're busy", with an attitude, as if I shouldn't be asking. I said well that's not acceptable, the food is now probably cold. He replies with more of an attitude stating "It was a mistake, sorry". So I got my cold food and attitude from Eastdale Bagels. I get it, it was busy, and mistakes are made all the time, but to give me an attitude? What happened to customer service? I am a patron, and patrons are what keeps businesses alive, yet it was if this young gentleman blamed me. Never again, I do not go to businesses that treat their customers as if they were the problem. This young man was nasty and offered me nothing in return for the inconvenience they...
