Café Con Leche — Restaurant in Town of Rhinebeck

Transparently speaking I didn’t have high hopes for a Puerto Rican restaurant in Rhinebeck but whenever possible I’m intentional about supporting the Latin American community especially small businesses. I grew up with access and currently reside in a neighborhood with authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. The food at Cafe Con Leche was absolutely stunning, perfectly seasoned! I had the mofongo with pernil and a passion fruit juice. The serving size was very generous, the prices were fair, the service was pleasant, and while the space was small, they’ve made great use of it. Service was horrible, the woman at register gave me the wrong item, then went into the back and I couldn’t get her attention for several minutes. Once she came back out, she told me I had the right item, which was supposed to be a chocolate chip cake, but it was covered in walnuts. I then asked or something different, a blueberry cake, and when she gave it to me it tasted like it was still defrosting - even though they advertise that they have fresh baked goods daily. One of the best meals I've had in this past of the Hudson Valley in a long while. I had the pernil sandwich with maduros on the side and my partner had the bacalao with rice and pigeon peas.
