We went to Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Rhinebeck for a one-night girls’ trip to celebrate our amazing friend’s 50th birthday. The company? Couldn’t have been better. The hotel? Gorgeous. The overall experience? Well… it had range.||||⸻||||The Town:||Rhinebeck is absolutely adorable—clean streets, charming shops, and that perfect small-town energy. One boutique that really stood out to me was Zephyr, where the clothing is actually designed by the owner herself. Everything was cool and unique—especially these long, sheer over-tops that you could dress up or down. I tried on a structured skirt that didn’t just look fashionable—it felt like I was wearing a work of art. The store associate reminded me that fashion is supposed to be fun, and she wasn’t wrong. I can’t wait for an opportunity to go back.||||Another gem was Willow Wood which had such a fun, curated vibe. They had amazing beaded purses, cool shoes, and the most gorgeous floral skirt that I had to bring home with me. I’m counting down the days until I get to wear it.||||⸻||||The Hotel:||Mirbeau looks like a tucked-away French chateau. It’s a little hidden, and then suddenly—bam! You’re on a gorgeous, serene property that makes you feel like you’re somewhere special.||||Check-in was simple… for me. That’s because our amazing friend organized this whole trip and somehow wrangled 16 women without losing her mind. I wasn’t part of the actual check-in process, but from my end, it looked smooth—though I imagine coordinating all the rooms and preferences took a miracle.||||Our room was perfect for our group of four—plenty of space, two comfy beds, and all the cozy vibes. The shower products were luxurious and fragrant, and the robes? Truly the most comfortable robes I’ve ever worn. That said, I did have a bit of a situation: I turned the shower on from outside the glass door, and it basically launched a water show all over the bathroom. No one else had this issue, so I’m going to file that under “just me things.”||||One big bonus: the spa locker rooms are a lifesaver for getting ready if you’re sharing rooms. You can shower, blow-dry, and get dressed in peace, and honestly, it feels kind of luxurious.||||At night, they leave truffles and an aromatherapy mist on your pillow. The truffles were melt-in-your-mouth good, and the mist added such a sweet, thoughtful touch. More of that energy, please!||||⸻||||The Spa:||We spent a good chunk of the day at the spa, which had some hits and some misses. My therapist asked me what I liked, and I said I love having my head and neck massaged. She said, “Great, I’ll save that for the end,” but sadly, she must have forgotten. Also, instead of warming the oil in her hands like most spas do, she poured it straight onto my back cold, which was not the zen moment I had in mind.||||When I checked out and was asked how my massage was, I said “okay” and mentioned a few issues. The response? A completely robotic, “A 20% gratuity has been added to your bill. Is that okay?” I mean… you can’t say no.||||Before our treatments, we relaxed in the quiet room, which had dreamy lounge chairs. I do feel for the other guests though—our group of 16 tried to keep it down, but let’s be honest, spa robes don’t cancel out the volume of women catching up and laughing.||||⸻||||Cabanas & Chaos:||We had two cabanas reserved around a hot tub, which sounds relaxing—unless it’s 100 degrees out and you’re melting in real time. Also, I wrongly assumed there’d be a pool. Spoiler alert: there’s not. (Which just proves what they say—when you assume, you make an… well, you know.)||||Then lightning struck—literally—and we had to evacuate. The hotel didn’t have a proper indoor backup for groups, so they tucked us into the library, where we weren’t allowed to eat. We asked about sitting in the restaurant and were told it was “reserved for a wedding.” I saw a bride. I did not see a wedding.||||Eventually, after some back-and-forth, we were allowed to order a charcuterie board, which came sans crackers and with meat that smelled a little… off. I’m guessing they were worried about crumbs, but it didn’t exactly feel welcoming.||||⸻||||Dinner & Nightlife:||Dinner was at To Pretty To Think—a very cool, very moody restaurant. The vibe was on point and our long table looked amazing, but they didn’t have basic drink options like Sprite, so picky eaters might struggle. Afterward, some of the group went out to a local bar, but the town had basically shut down for the night. I headed back to the hotel, where my chocolate and pillow spray were waiting. No regrets.||||⸻||||The Morning After:||In the morning, I asked someone near the restaurant for iced coffee. She didn’t even work in food service but kindly helped—and a nearby waitress jumped in and made it happen. The coffee was actually delicious. However, we weren’t allowed to sit inside the restaurant or even on the patio. Instead, we had to sit out front at random tables like the misbehaving kids at Thanksgiving.||||After that, we went to About the Bread for breakfast, which was exactly what we needed. Their avocado toast was amazing, and while it’s a casual, order-at-the-counter place where you bus your own table, it totally worked. Simple, yummy, no drama.||||⸻||||Final Verdict:||Mirbeau is beautiful, the rooms are thoughtfully designed, the spa has potential, and the robes are everything. But the service was hit-or-miss and at times left us feeling more like intruders than guests. For the price, I expected a bit more warmth and flexibility.||||Would I go back? Possibly—but definitely with a smaller group, lower expectations, and a confirmed masseuse request in hand. With the right vibe and a little luck, I think it could be the relaxing escape it’s meant to be. This trip gave us laughs, great memories, and some funny stories we’ll be telling for years.||||Maybe it’s just a Rhinebeck thing—a little too curated, a little too cool, and a little too rule-heavy. If you go, bring your sense of humor, your patience, and your best robe (though honestly, they’ve already got the best one waiting for you).||||I do recommend everyone visit Rhinebeck at least once—it’s a beautiful town with so much charm...
Read moreWe booked a single night for a girls spa experience. First, the room was lovely and comfortable. Check in was pleasant and we arrived early to go directly to the spa. First we used the outdoor hot tub, which was enjoyable, pre massage. The quiet room was peaceful, warm and very comfortable. I had requested the deep tissue massage but got the Signature. The massage itself was not one of my better ones. The therapist was very kind, but she spoke badly of the owners of the spa and wanted to troll for her own massage business. She was not a terrific therapist either. She did one leg, not the other etc.. but she did focus on the area I asked her to. Lunch was up next: We ordered two burgers and a grains bowl.. all delicious. The only way to describe the service was inattentive and ruder than any I have ever had. After my friend ate her onion soup appetizer, she put it to the side. After and hour and 15 minutes, we asked to see the server and when we inquired about the status of our lunch and politely said it had been a long wait, a very angry ugly side of her came out. We had to ask for the manager and get a new server who we could see was not happy about having to wait on us, although she did her best. After lunch, I went on to a facial. It was a bizarre experience with an aesthetician who rapid fired conversation with me and the facial felt like an oil change. I did speak with management and the cost of both services were removed. Later, as we were getting ready for an early evening dinner, a bottle of champagne I did not order, arrived at my room with a Happy Anniversary card! Nice for me, but not the poor couple who we’re celebrating. Simultaneously, I was preparing to shower and could not get any hot water in the shower so I tried the tub before calling the desk, only to find out there was no hot water. They said it would be back in 10 min, but an hour later after a very cold rinse of my hair in the tub, there was still not hot water. It was back by bedtime at midnight. Upon our return from dinner, we stopped at the hotel bar to get a glass of wine, only to meet our server from lunch who was just as nasty, but did agree to pour us each a glass of wine, telling us we were not allowed to sit in the bar area but could take the wine to our rooms. Despite her nasty attitude, I tipped her $40 on a $60 check. We proceeded to a sitting room with a fireplace to enjoy our wine and a lovely night manager came and brought us three more glasses an hour or two later. Such a kind courtesy. We tipped him handsomely! I checked out early the next morning, having enjoyed the annual girls get together, but so disappointed with the experience. I am a local Hudson Valley Realtor and live just 20 mins away. My partner owns a local restaurant and we do understand the challenges in the service industry especially well. I don’t ask for free things ever, but for this experience, they should have paid me!
I have eaten at Willow twice before. The food and service were very good both of those times When I inquired about the server I had at lunch, I was told she had worked there since the opening of the property. I can only imagine how many people she must offend and how much lost business she costs this property. We are a family of restaurant people. We get it. But this was an unacceptable attitude and level of service for...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Mirbeau spa this weekend . It was our 1st time and it def won't be our last . Where do I begin..
The second you pull up to the parking lot you see a beautiful building . You park , as you walk in you hear soft music playing . The front desk staff was very welcoming an Offer a free glass of champagne . The decor and the presentation of the hotel is beautiful . The elevators have this pretty pattern cloth on the wall.
Room
WOW, the headboard on the bed is beautiful , loved the fireplace . The bed was very comfortable , the pillows a little too soft but not a deal breaker .The bathroom has (2) sinks. Storage for towels , even had a small black face towel that said makeup. I though that was so cute! They have refillable body wash / lotion / shampoo conditioner available to use and purchase. The fragrance of their products is so good . We had the Forest view but it wasn't anything to pay the extra $20 for . Its just green trees . I love the 2 chairs by the bed . Nice place to sit and enjoy the room coffee. The coffee machine / brewer was really good and they have instructions posted.
Spa/hot Tub/ quiet room
We had massages booked . The massage itself Was very good . My Masseuse was very sweet and gave me a few recommendations of things to do. (Poets walk and holy cow ). The outdoor hot tub was nice . Not many chairs . I would say about 11 total . I LOVED the way they displayed the towels on a towel hanger . The lady at the bar was so nice and made excellent drinks . Shes by herself so if she had to pick up food she would be gone for a few minutes . But shes worth the wait . I had a few mimosas and a mojito . We tried the Cesar wrap . Everything was delicious .
We waited in the quiet room to be called for our massages . Its a room with cool back chairs . Very relaxing . Unfortunately as other reviews stated the quiet room is on the way to the hot tub and to the bathrooms . It has to be Walked into to access the other parts . Not very "quiet " since it has traffic all the time.
My FAV part of the spa were the SHOWERS. Everything you need is in the individual shower rooms. Towels , shampoo , conditioner , body wash. Then you throw the used Towels in a romper . The shower in the spa is a Million times Nicer, bigger and prettier then the shower in the room. My favvv part!
Restaurant
We only sat down for breakfast . Their sourdough Bread is out of this world . Delicious mimosas. The bacon the pancakes. Omg the home fries. So flavorful!
Area
Rhinebeck looks so nice . There's a few stores to walk around and visit . There's a cvs 5 minutes away incase u need something . The area looks nice and safe .
