I am a HUGE FAN of this Historic Business...I worked for the Beekman Arms in 1973 as a studant of the C.I.A...I graduated C.I.A in 1974... First...the dramatic entrance is as always a great Great sight to see...entering it had a cold feeling...my wife and I were invited by friends for a holiday Thanksgiving celebration...it took a while to be seated...being in the Hospitality Business I noticed an addition on the southern side of the building...this large blank canvas needs to be appointed with artifacts as the original building...White walls...nothing but white...I also understand that you may have had Staffing issues...since assistance was not very accessible...but with myself reviewing the scene it was evident something was askew...lack of waitstaff service in the new room...The buffet was nice actually...no one was there to tell us, or any signage to explain the dishes.. I knew the items that were displayed...but not everyone knew... Place cards with the items names were missing for all the dishes..Salmon Chaffer was very nice...you had very High Quality items here, but people eat with their eyes...Shrimp Cocktail dish was great...Oysters had Mud and Shells in, on and under the oyster flesh...Cocktail sauce and Tarter sauce was very good...the Turkey looked like it was a second thought...a great table but only Turkey and some sort of Red Ham...Red Eye Gravy?...server was very polite but it seemed that the carver was just hacking away at the turkey and ham...we were in the north room and we encountered a remarkable waiter...Miles... he was on point...but he was everywhere working his butt off...I poured water for our table of 9 with no regrets...Miles had replaced the water at the window areas that I served to our table...this young man Miles is a great worker...courteous...respectful and knew what he was doing...I realized "The Arms" was very short on staff...Miles was also in the other dining rooms...what could have been a train wreck, Miles handled it all with smiles and courtesy... I have been an Executive Chef for 34 of my 52 years in this field... I love "THE BEEKMAN ARMS"...I am sincere when I say..."MILES" is an asset... Wishing you continued success and luck for your future... I PRAY PEOPLE START TO RETURN TO WORK OR WHAT WAS WILL NEVER BE AGAIN... All the very...
Read moreWe had lunch here at the Beekman Arms Inn (tavern & Delamater Inn) Wed June 28, 2030 12:30pm. This colonial America tavern & inn has been continuously operated since 1766. Right on NYS Rt 9 in Rhinebeck, NY with many other interesting places nearby to visit & explore. Rhinebeck is a very walkable area. My friend from college & I played a round of golf at Dinsmore-a NYS operated golf course in nearby Staatsburg. A nice course that I'll review shortly. Then met with our wives here for lunch. They live in Hyde Park & are familiar with "The Beek". Indoor & outdoor dining, many dining rooms and we chose the tavern. The Tavern at The Beekman Arms serves lunch and dinner seven days a week year round and Brunch on Sundays. The Colonial Tap Room featuring overhead beams, open hearth fireplace, and a charming bar is a must see. Lunch is served from 11:30am-3:00pm. Our server was Alexis J. She was friendly, patient, and very competent. She brought the menus & water and we ordered some craft draft beers & wine. Drinks were half off at lunch ($4ea). Yeah for us! We all had sandwiches: tavern cheesesteak (lunch special $9.50), loaded tavern burger ($8.50), grilled vegetables on a baguette ($8.50), and my Hudson Valley BLT ($7) was outstanding. Note: our lunches were half-off also. Sweet! All sandwiches were w/ kettle chips, served together and at proper temperature. A very delicious lunch at a great price. Lunch is a great value here. We had a great time catching up w/ our friends of 55 years. The Tavern has a solid reputation & did not disappoint. Thank you to Alexis J and the staff at The Tavern. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We'll visit again soon. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY and Tom & Carol,...
Read moreA delightful place steeped in history going back to 1704, and through which have passed many storied personages like presidents George Washington and Benjamin Harrison. More recently, on July 28th, 2018, Larry Sharpe appeared here during his gubernatorial campaign. This review only examines the restaurant, though a steady stream of guests observed arriving at the inn suggests that those accommodations are also very popular. The restaurant features interior rooms complete with historical furnishings, but also a glass-enclosed extension on which this review was centered. The views offered of downtown Rhinebeck are gorgeous, which a busking saxophonist serenading passers-by. The food served was exquisite, especially the Dutch pot pie. The menu for kids keeps the little people happy. There are about eight beers on tap, including several local microbrews. The waiter was both professional and friendly. There is free, fast wi-fi, and during this review a live jazz band was playing in the interior...
