I live in Loudonville, NY, and typically shop at the BJ's located in Albany/Colonie. Recently, I was trying to locate a specific item and reached out to the Albany store by phone. I called three times — twice the call was answered and immediately disconnected, and on the third attempt, someone answered abruptly. I asked if a particular item was in stock and received a curt "no" with no further explanation or assistance.
Frustrated, I then called the Rotterdam store and had a completely different experience. I was fortunate to speak with a wonderful employee named Carlita (spelling may be incorrect). Carlita was polite, professional, and extremely helpful. She not only checked the Rotterdam store’s inventory — confirming there were 30 units available — but also looked up the stock at the Albany location for me.
Prior to calling the Rotterdam store, I had placed a pickup order with the Albany store, fully expecting to be informed that the item was not in stock. Much to my surprise, the item was located — but I then discovered I had been charged an additional $3.99 processing and packaging fee. I attempted to cancel the order but was unable to do so. While I ultimately did receive the item I was looking for, the overall experience was disappointing due to the lack of support from the Albany location.
I want to specifically commend Carlita for her outstanding customer service. She turned what could have been a completely frustrating experience into a manageable one with her kindness and...
Read moreLet me tell you, all the years we have paid to shop here, what really have we paid for? Hell all you gotta do is go to the counter & ask for a day pass! Not to mention, you can use anyones card. They never check it. Another thing, the coupons. Did you know all you gotta do (on their web) is click on all the cupons, this way when you go shopping, it is all automatically discounted. No clipping! If that is the case, why not have member holders automatically get the XTRA discount, otherwise only get the booklet. Day passers not allowed discounts. We also used to recieve points & redeem them towards our total. Guess we got to much! So what ARE YOU PAYING FOR AGAIN?! ONE MORE THING! We have been members since it 1st opened! But because i lost my card, then after my Senior card holder (dad) passed away, each time they updated our card, with that year onto it, instead of the year we joined. OH! I WAS HARRASSED, CHASED DOWN, FOLLOWED, PHOTOGRAPHED, VIDEOTAPPED, IGNORED & DENIED SERVICES, ALL BY STAFF MEMBERS, ONE TIME FOLLOWED BY 4 STAFF MEMBERS. ESPECIALLY "KEYHOLDER KAREN" IN ROTTERDAM, WHO GOT THE MANAGER TO COME DOWN & THREATEN ME. THEY MADE A SCENE. WHICH WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED. WHO WAS RIGHT YOU LITTLE PIPSQUEEK B? I WAS. BECAUSE OF YOU, BJS LOST HUNDREDS IN SALES. SAY...
Read moreBJs used to be a great place to save money, now its a great place to be made to feel like a criminal more than a customer. The entire experience just isn't worth the hassle anymore. Many items are more per unit price than regular area supermarkets. During shortages they were the last ones to have stock again. They put limits on how much you can buy. So why would anyone continue to pay a yearly fee when you cant even buy in bulk anymore. The company is either in trouble or just money grabbing during a pandemic and it shows. Where there used to be free samples are now sales people hassling you while you shop, so much so that you choose to skip the entire isle to avoid them. Everything from to switching cell phone carriers to switching electricity companies. Hell maybe there will be time share people there soon. Looking forward to alternatives moving into the area. Will never renew my membership and I highly suggest anyone thinking about joining to save their hard earned dollars and shop elsewhere. If I were a stock holder I would sell immediately. This company is right on target to file for bankruptcy within the...
