The food here is REALLY tasty, with lots of unusual options and variety for those who enjoy plant-based food. I also love that all of the ingredients are listed so carefully, sauces packaged separately, etc.
However, the set-up is pretty strange. Aside from the smoothies and drinks, everything is pre-made and in plastic storage containers. You pick something out from a refrigerated section against the wall. If you want it heated up like a regular restaurant meal, it takes 5-10 minutes for some reason (I feel like a regular microwave could do this in 60 seconds?), and you have to stand there waiting the whole time (no seating is available). If you go outside to sit at one of the two tables with folding chairs while waiting for your food, they won't bring it out to you or let you know that it's ready, even if you're plainly visible and no other customers are there. Additionally, for reasons that are unclear to me, asking for a dish to be warm also involves them mixing it up for you, defeating the purpose of the sauces being separate. Anyway, it's all very quirky. I'm not sure why the restaurant works this way; I haven't really figured out the best way of feeding myself here, and I've been here several times. I was happy to see a replacement after organic pharmer closed last year, the food is pretty healthy, but not as healthy as organic pharmer, which never would have sold food with peanut butter, anyway I spent $111 buying a variety of prepared foods to take home to the kids, unfortunately one of the items I picked up was labeled âcreamy chocolate puddingâ but given the severe peanut allergies kids have these days it should have been named something like âcreamy peanut butter chocolate puddingâ because then I wouldnât have bought it and my family would have had an ordinary pleasant day, avocado chocolate pudding is my sonâs favorite and I could not have imagined it would have peanut butter in it, especially since itâs supposed to be...
Read moreGreen & Tonic offers a solid range of healthy, plant-based options that are surprisingly tasty, even for someone who isnât fully committed to a vegetarian lifestyle. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and how satisfying the dishes were. That said, I do wish they had some meat options for more variety.
The smoothies, though, are a highlightâabsolutely delicious! Theyâre fresh, perfectly balanced, and a great option for a quick pick-me-up. The customer service is another plusâeveryone there is laid-back and friendly, which makes the overall experience really enjoyable.
Iâll definitely be coming back more often...
