âIt pains me to write thisâ. Iâve enjoyed the Avenue since it opened, 4-5 times per month. Spectacular food, at times exceptional service, all depends upon who serves, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, my last three visits have completely turned me off for numerous reasons:
VALUE - I understand things are not as they once were and I accept that, itâs the way it is. That being said, at the Avenue you get spectacular food. However, a place like the Avenue should be able to prepare your fillet mignon to taste request: rare, medium, or well done. I always order well done, Caesar dressing on my salad. Simple, or so youâd think. The last three times my well done was bloody, and I was served house dressing instead of Caesar. The problem sending back for proper preparation, as ordered, is we canât eat together because my girlfriendâs meal cools. My final bill is usually $180 plus a tip up to 30%.
SERVICE - Being a busy restaurant service should be a good thing, not something that confuses the wait staff or makes them less efficient. With the proper training and motivation, busy times should be welcomed, not set a stage for confusion and excuses.
THEREâS ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE OR SERVICE IN A MEAL IF I DONâT GET WHAT I PAID FOR ... A WELL DONE FILET MIGNON WITH CEASER DRESSING ON MY SALAD!
The filet was brought back home for the dog đ¶ again.
HOW MANY MORE TIMES WILL THE DOG EAT MY FILET MIGNON BEFORE THE AVENUE PREPARES MY MEAL AS ORDERED? NOT AS MUCH, BECAUSE IâLL GO A FEW TIMES PER YEAR NOT 4-5...
Read moreWe found this place by accident. Our go to Steakhouse was all booked up. So we did some searching and found The Avenue. The Avenue is a charming and cozy. Our table for 6 wasn't ready (prior guests camping out) and we understood it wasn't their fault. The owner was still very apologetic offering us drinks while we waited. She made other arrangements to get us seated promptly. We ordered apps, steaks and a shrimp dish. All were excellent. Our porterhouse was cooked perfect, nice char and perfect temp and came with sides, I feel like that is un heard of, most steakhouse steaks are ala carte. My dad's Filet mignon was like 2 inches thick and cooked perfectly. The stuffed shrimp was also great. Our entire time there, even while waiting, it was evident that everyone who worked their cared about their guests. Our waitress (which I think may be a part owner) was awesome. Other waitresses who weren't directly dealing with our table was very helpful and extremely friendly with my kids (ages 4 & 2). Short story Long. Great food. Wonderful owner/manager and a caring team. We are glad we found this spot. We will...
Read moreMy two friends and I, ALL Italians from Brooklyn so you can't get pickier, ate here Thursday and we're all so glad we tried it and plan on returning WHENEVER we are nearby. We ordered a bunch of apps that were great the calamari, the CLAMS CASINO, the muscles all great. I was actually against having seafood in the catskills but really awesome food. I wish they were here in Brooklyn they would be my favorite here amongst all these legends. The steaks were fantastic cooked to perfection seasoned and prepared with excellence. We had the pork chops the seafood the steaks a bunch of apps lots of beers and the bill was still very reasonable. This family owned and operated gem is a must have when we go up there from now on. Do yourselves a favor and get there and enjoy some awesome food. Great place, great people can't say enough about it. If I would put them against any restaurant in Brooklyn they are in a class of their own in the Catskills which by the way we've tried a few. After eating at the avenue we regret not trying it sooner and avoiding...
