I'm rating this 2 stars not because they hire very young kids (people under 18 years old) - but because they don't correct their behavior. I just went there to get 2 different sandwiches. I heard the boy say "I messed up, I know, oh well!" and the older lady that I know has been there longer said nothing. The kid continued to add the tomatoes (which I said I don't want) and then added green onion which isn't even part of the sandwich! I got the jerey garcia and the drama queen, by the way. My 2nd order was correct because I actually decided to pay more attention to how he was making it. I'm really upset that instead of telling this new boy that he should start over or at least tell me he messed she kept quiet. You are in charge and when your employees make a mistake you need to correct it, how can you let it go and walk away? This child was very loud and honestly, really rude. He's telling customers his boss trips all the time and not paying attention when making the meals/sandwiches - instead he's chatting away. I have been going to Down Town Deli for 2 years now every so often. If you continue to hire children and won't bother to show or teach them how to do their job properly, why would I come back? Why would other customers want to go to a place to get food with the employees not paying attention to their order? Or correcting mistakes when they flat out said it? Why would someone who has clearly been there longer let it go? The only reason it's getting 2 starts instead of 1 is because the food is good but only when I have gotten the girls that have been there and know what they are doing. Stop hiring kids if you aren't going to properly train them or correct their mistakes when a customer is standing right in front of you both. I said nothing as to this was my review order - a customer shouldn't have to correct a new employee when they make a mistake if their boss/manager is already aware and knows they made a mistake. ...
Read moreFirst, I order from here quite a bit. Never had a problem. Today, I ordered the lunch special- "Chicken Broccoli Alfredo". What arrived to me was definitely not that. More like chicken and dumplings on mushy mushy noodles. It was horrible. My coworker said the same thing but was somehow able to eat hers. I called to complain and ask if we had gotten the wrong thing only to be told that no, this is correct. It has carrots and little red peppers in it. Barely any chicken and the broccoli was incredibly mushy, though not quite as bad as the noodles. The only way they would refund (or I even volunteered to get put on a list for another lunch a different day) was by sending someone out to collect it. Gross. But since I didn't eat it, go for it. I ordered sandwiches also and didn't ask for a refund on those so I can't believe they thought I was lying but the fact that they're gonna pay someone to come all the way back and collect it is weird. And super off putting. I will never order again. Now both my coworker and I are not feeling great. Don't EVER order chicken and broccoli Alfredo. And just keep in mind the owner has crappy customer service skills if that's how she treats people who have ordered many times before and have never received...
Read moreI have been optimistic about Downtown Deli, I have purchased sandwiches about 2 or 3 times AFTER I had a poor experience and unfortunately they never got any better. I won’t waste my $30 ever again at Downtown Deli because it’s awful every time. To start, their service is horrendous. If they are going to keep young girls behind the counter running the place, they should at least train them in customer service and professionalism. They are rude and can’t seem to handle the fast paced work. Secondly, they have fruit flies flying around the deli meat which makes me very skeptical about their cleanliness. Lastly, they have burned the bread multiple times and the sandwiches are thrown together. Even the chips were stale!! I’m surprised they get any business at all, they need to make some serious impovements or just shut down altogether. I’ve been disappointed the last 3 times I went there and now I will never go back because I’m sick of...
