3.5 stars for food based on past orders, 1 star for my recent DoorDash order, so I settled on an overall 3 rating. Today I ordered 1 lb. of Boars Head American cheese and was very disappointed to receive a stack of the pre-sliced, lesser quality, cheaper cheese rather than freshly sliced from the solid brick that would be displayed in the counter. I can't even be sure it is actually Boars Head, but there is a definite difference in taste and texture either way. Boars Head (and other brands) offers a selection of second tier meats & cheeses that are not intended for "by-the-pound" sale. They are meant for use in bulk recipes and items prepared behind the counter as a cost-saver. As someone with over 30 years experience and ownership in the deli business, I knew what this cheese was the instant I unwrapped it. I think there are three possibilities. They ran out of the right cheese and decided that this substitute would be okay, they had an untrained and/or lazy employee who figured grabbing a chunk of this cheese was just as good, or they intentionally did a bait and switch.
