Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

We out to dinner the other night, which we don’t normally do, but my daughter got a good test grade and we wanted to treat her to a dinner out to celebrate her accomplishment. My daughter has special needs and going out to public outings is always different and challenging. Right when we sat down our server, Brianna, came over and got our drink orders. My daughter was talking her ear off and showing her all of her seven stuffed animals she brought out to dinner with us. Instead of her rushing away and not engaging with my daughter to intend to her other numerous tables, she sat down at our table and played with the stuffed animals with my daughter, both laughing. It brought tears to my eyes. Our food came out great, and at a timely manner. My daughter can’t stay out long, as we told Brianna, so her and a management made sure that dinner came out quick (thank you for that!) With dessert not being an option since my daughter was starting to get restless after just a quick dinner, Brianna, brought my daughter a scoop of vanilla icecream to take home with us for doing good on her test. I really can not rave about Outback any more. Your staff is amazing, the food was great, we will be back and will be telling everyone we know about this phenomenal experience. We decide to eat at the bar. The restaurant was slow. My husband and I were the only people at the bar eating. An older man came in later for a beer. The bartender greeted us and made us drinks. The was quite a few servers standing around. One male server was focus on his laptop checking his fantasy game. We later over hear he could possibly win 13,000 dollars. The French onion soup came out immediately after we order. The cheese was barely melted on the soup. The side salads came shortly after which was ok but my husband's salad was three times the size of mine. No big deal we just laughed about it. My husband order the bourbon steak med rare. When the steak came out it was gray in color and the fat on the steak was not seared. I ordered my steak med well (knowing it would come out med) instead it came out rare. The bartender never came over to check. I needed to flag down the fantasy football server who checking his stats to request a refire on my steak. He sent the manager over who apologize and took my steak back. My husband chose to just keep his steak. My husband finished his steak before I got mine back. The manager bought out my steak but neither bartender or manager checked back. Worst...

Went to Outback last night to celebrate a 90th birthday with a party of 16 people. The reservation was made months ago and confirmed four times, the most recent confirmation was within the past week.

When we arrived at 6:00 PM, we were told there was no record of our reservation. The staff said it would be a 45-minute wait, which we were willing to accept. Forty-five minutes turned into an hour, and still no table.

A young server kindly offered to take our drink orders outside while we waited, but the manager shut that down immediately, saying Outback “does not accept reservations” and that we were “not allowed to drink outside.”

To make matters worse, another birthday party who arrived after us was seated before us. When we explained that our reservation had been confirmed multiple times, the manager dismissed it completely and showed no concern or courtesy.

In the end, we took our business elsewhere, Sangria 71, where the service and hospitality were the complete opposite (see my review there).

This experience was rude, unprofessional, and inconsiderate. The manager’s attitude lost Outback the business of 16 people, and I sincerely hope others take note. We will never dine at Outback...
