I've been going to the Park Bake Shop for years and always had a pleasant experience until yesterday. I ordered my daughters first Birthday cake in April for June. They ask you when you'll be picking up the cake so they know when to have it ready. I asked the girl to write down 10:30. I was on a time schedule being that I had to set up and decorate my event space in Smithtown by 11:00. I show up at 10:30 and I am told the cake isn't ready after I stood there for 10 minutes waiting and watched them bring out other cakes. After waiting a long time naturally I began getting upset being that it was now 10:45. When I spoke to the manager she told me that she had wedding cakes that day and a pot of other cakes that needed to be done. As a paying coustomer (the cake and cupcakes I ordered was over $100) why should I care about other orders? I had expressed that i asked for it to be done by a certain time because I'm on a time crunch. The manager gave me an attitude and said "do you want he cake or not? Because they are airbrushing it and I'm going to make them stop". I said of course I need the cake . I said you need to deliver my order . She told me she can't . I said well you have to do something I can't wait . Finally she said she will deliver it. I paid the remaining balance on the account. The cake was delivered without the cupcakes . Then when I cut the cake (I paid extra for whipped cream topping and whipped cream on the inside with fresh strawberries) there was cut strawberries with vanilla pudding. After calling to complain about the gross cake (that I had to throw away because it was a gross combination) I was put on hold so many times about a total of 30 minutes and said I didn't get the cupcakes. Their response "well did you tell us about the cupcakes ?" Of course I did when I picked up the order. Shouldn't they have a form? Why do I have to remind them of my order? They then wouldn't reimburse me for my cupcakes that they never delivered and said they would send me a $25 gift card. That is ridiculous! I paid over $100 didn't get my entire order AND you made the cake WRONG!!! I am a Kings Parker and will now be driving to...
Read moreI had a horrible experience with this shop! I purchased over $100 of bakery items plus ordered 6 frog fondant, buttercream, cupcakes made of chocolate & paid it in full and left a $5 for the baker and $7 for the helper there. I was suppose to pick it up on 11/ 9/2023 but, could not due to my job and loc. Deer Park was hard to make it on time before they closed on their schedule even on Saturday I had to march in the annual Veteran's Day parade in Park Ave, New York on Saturday which was all day. Sunday I had free time finally to pick it up and purchase some more items but when I called to ask if I can pick those cupcakes, the young female informed me that the cupcakes melted in their refrigerator without notifying me with my phone number on the receipt first! The female also spoke on behalf of her manager who told me I had to accept vanilla next time for the cupcake flavor and repurchase them all over again. I informed that female how I served with the Military in Food Services and never heard of nonsense like this! I asked to speak to the manager regarding this issue and she refused to speak to me! She also stated they would lose money when it was me who lost my money!! When you are asked for your number it is their responsibility to call you if that customer did not pick up their item before discarding them! Things happen and I once bought those same 15 frog fondant cupcakes that lasted me for a week and a half without melting in my refrigerator!! That was a childhood dessert I had growing up in Queens over 40 yrs ago and this store has damaged any good memories thanks to the weekend manager and this nasty young lady who needs to have better etiquette and knowledge when speaking to customers about refrigeration and shelf life on desserts being stored in there! This is coming from a Army/Air Force Veteran who spoke very highly about this bakery shop for years even ordered My daughter's sweet sixteen cake over 15 yrs ago!! Now Thanks for the nasty memories form that horrible girl who...
Read morePark Bakery / Park Bakeshop …. Oh whatever do I say…. My friend Kathy & I frequent this place at least twice a month! We never leave disappointed in the least.
When visiting friends in the area, this is our favorite spot to get desert. They also have a wonderful Kosher selection for those of you wondering…
Here are some of my faves from Park that’s on repeat….
The absolutely BEST crumb cake I’ve ever had. The topped crumb portion light & delicious, definitely not a messy crumble! The pastry/cake lower portion is as light as air! You def get an undertone of exquisite vanilla on your tongue setting them off singing to the desert gods for sure. The desert itself is a great compliment to a delicious cuppa coffee be it breakfast or evening desert. For those of you wondering if it’s sickly sweet… NO…. It’s not… it’s simply perfectly balanced. It’s certainly not going to back anyone off.
The Donuts… it’s best to preorder the night before so you’re guaranteed your selections. This place sells out of goodies fast!
Donuts…. Vanilla crème stuffed with a custard & topped with vanilla icing, a mighty delicious jelly sprinkled with sugar on top, delectable Boston cream, and my absolute favorite… The PBJ (peanut butter & jelly). The best donuts on the planet I tell you! I’ve never quiet tasted anything else that remotely comes close! The peanut butter used is ridiculously good & that jelly…. Leaves you licking the very last drop! The fillings are not skimpish in the least…they are nightly overstuffed.
My friend Kathy ordered my birthday cake from here & it was Uber delicious!!!! The strawberry shortcake was super light & strawberry filling tongue pleasingly delicious!!!
Bring your muscles 💪🏼 when carrying that box...
