I usually don't post about bad experiences with restaurants because I know how it could harm a business immensely when you are not a major chain, considering myself being a business owner...But, I feel it is necessary for Relish to see this so that in the future they can possibly fix the issues my family and I had while eating there, and continue to grow.
To start, when we were seated, the hostess brought us to a table that was just absolutely disgusting. Not only was the table sticky and visibly dirty, the chairs were essentially falling apart and dirty as well. She did not say anything to us and handed us menus that looked like they haven't been wiped down or cleaned is probably the past year.. Then, my wife and I had to wait almost 20 minutes for the so called "Waitress" to come over and at least introduce herself. After our first encounter of very few with this individual, she then took another 10 minutes to bring my wife a water and myself a Coke to drink. She immediately walked away from us after bringing us our drinks. To no surprise honestly, the Coke definitely looked off in color. I tried it and it tasted like the coke you get from a Wendy's that had been sitting out for a few hours and the ice had completely melted in it...it took her another 5 minutes to come back and ask us what we wanted to eat.(As a side note, I do not know the specific names of the menu items, but I will get as close as possible to describing it). We had ordered there version of fully loaded fries with sour cream, cheese, and bacon, for our appetizer. Then for entrees we ordered a mac and cheese quesadilla and chicken bacon ranch mac and cheese(we were craving cheese for whatever reason today). Then, I had told her about the coke being nasty, which she then delegated the task onto another coworker to handle just so I could get a water..but, I will always give praise and credit where it is due, the appetizer came out in about 5 minutes, which is pretty quick to say the least(which out waitress was not the one to bring out)...BUT, it was just terrible. It tasted like fries you would get at 2am from a checkers...but, we would still hold hope for our entrees. The entrees took about 20 minutes to come out(which is honestly fine). Mind you, not once had we been able to ask our waitress for refills because everytime she made eye contact with me, she turned around and went the other way. The entrees themselves were at best sub-par. The quesadilla was barely cooked, and my entree tasted like it was sitting out for a good 10 mins under a heat lamp. Which, to a point I get when it is really busy. But it really wasn't crowded in there considering it was between breakfast and lunch at 11am when we went. After about 30 mins of sitting waiting for our waitress to come back, another waitress had come over to us and asked if we would like boxes for our food. My wife was disgusted and decided not to take the rest home, while I felt almost awkward not taking it home considering I only ate 1/3 of the chicken bacon ranch mac and cheese, so I asked for a box. After this other waitress came back about 2 minutes later with boxes, we waited another 15 minutes for someone else to come by so that we can get the check and get out of there. Long Behold, a younger gentleman who was another waiter at the restaurant came up to us with the check. He placed it on the table and started walking away when he realized we didn't say anything back to him( maybe he realized something was wrong) he asked us after he printed out a receipt if we wanted dessert. I looked at my wife and I said to her that we won't be back here again, so you might as well try a desert from here to get the full experience. She laughed, then I laughed and she ordered an apple pie shake. But then the real humor came when we waited another 20 minutes for a to go Shake to come out, then it tasted horrible as well. To conclude this review, I really hope that this restaurant was just having an off day or something because this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in...
Read moreI use to eat breakfast at Relish in Kings Park very frequently. If I didn't go with my family, or at least a family member, I was meeting my friends there. My go to had been their grain and nut pancakes (till they stopped making them due to so many nut alergies), but when their lemon poppy pancakes were on special, I'd delightfully indulge in them. Yesterday, my husband decided to take me to breakfast. Rather than suggest our more recent breakfast places, I suggested returning to Relish and my husband's face lit up. When we arrived, we immediately noticed the restaurant's physical changes. They had expanded and from outside it looked very pretty within. The inside had also been nicely updated, though just the right amount of the old remained. Once seated, our very friendly waitress came over to greet us and took our beverage order. Since I make eggs and oatmeal at home, as well as the occasional pancakes or waffles, when I go out for breakfast, I look for something special, something that I wouldn't be likely to have at home. As I perused the menu, I felt a little disappointed. Their menu's pancake choices were down to only 2 choices, a bland Buttermilk pancake or a Ricotta pancake. Looking at the pancake special I wanted to smack my forehead and shake my head, "No." They had added Oatmeal to their Buttermilk batter and called it "Special." To each their own, I guess, but it certainly did not interest me, even after the waitress exclaimed over how good the were. A banana pancake, a pistachio pancake, a lemon poppy pancake (I'm not a sugar crazed type, but I like flavor), would have sung to me, but Oatmeal Buttermilk? Please. I truly had gone in with my mind open and looking forward to choosing a delicious breakfast meal from their menu, but the longer I perused the menu, the less I wanted to be in the restaurant. Finally, I chose the old egg standard: eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and toast, in my case egg whites and dry rye toast. I figured I couldn't go wrong with that. Boy, was I wrong! Out came the greasiest dish of food I've been served in a LONG time. To add further insult, my hashbrowns were completely burned and couldn't be called hashBrowns. My food looked like and I felt like I was in a Greasy Spoon, instead of the Relish I'd known and loved. What happend?! I knew that if I sent the food back, I'd get a new plate of food, but by then my husband would have finished his just ok looking French Toast and I'd be eating alone. So instead, I ate; we paid; and I left very disappointed. To make matters worse, I happened to notice that the woman across from me, who'd gotten her food shortly after I'd been served, had perfectly made hashbrowns, so it wasn't that they did not have properly made hashbrowns or that the chef couldn't cook. It was just my luck that the chef must have decided to scrape his pan before starting the fresh batch and thought his burned offering would be fine to...
Read moreAfter hearing so many great things about this place and looking for somewhere to go for Motherâs Day breakfast I decided to try it. I will not be back! Party of 3 adults and a child went toward the end of breakfast so there wasnât much of a wait Maybe about 20 mins and the place was emptying out as we were there. I wouldnât even attribute the being seated without forks and waiting 40 mins for 2 egg dishes. a salad , and a burger to it being super busy. The long wait for the food wasnât even the issue though. It was the big giant metal Fork decoration they had up on the wall near our table that fell and hit a person in my dinning party! The thing came falling off the wall hitting my friends daughter in the shoulder and making a loud noise as it landed on the floor. nobody even batted an eye! There were staff at the bar area directly across from our table as well as staff at hostess stand behind us. Nobody came over to check and see what happened and if we were ok. Even a waitresses passing by seemed to not to even notice. A Customer who was standing nearby helped pick it up off the floor. Then when I flagged down a waitress who was passing By to tell her what happened she had an attitude and said âyea I knowâ and took the thing away. When I asked to speak to the manager they sent me over a head waiter who seemed to hardly even care and just asked if we needed an ambulance. I then again asked to speak to a manager or the owner and I was told that there wasnât anyone there and that they were busy running two other stores. he was the only person in charge! How do you not have anyone running your breakfast establishment on one of the busiest days of the year ??? This waiter they sent me didnât offer any types of apologies sympathy or assurance the issue would be looked into. The crazy part Is I was going to sit my four year old in that seat until we moved across the booth. I understand itâs nobodyâs fault and things happen but itâs how it was/wasnât handled after that. In addition to the incident the food was poor and over priced and the womenâs bathroom was overflowing....
