La Cocina in Chittenango is exactly what Chittenango needed when they opened awhile back: a decent alternative to the standard fast food fare and pizza offered in the immediate area. I'm not knocking the pizza or fast food restaurants in and around Chittenango, just saying that I like to expand my options a bit. The food is authentic Mexican fare, with a sizeable selection to choose from.
La Cocina is owned and operated by a gentleman named Antonio ("Tonio" for short). He always welcomes my wife and me, shares a bit of the recents in life, and quickly sets us up with the tortilla chips and salsa that are the standard fare upon arrival (and are very tasty). We're given the option of glancing through the menu or ordering straightaway, which we can do because we're pretty familiar with everything there (we try to go at least once or twice a month). Everything is always fresh and tastes great, and usually the wait from time of order to food on the table is under 10 minutes.
I'd recommend this place to anyone... the prices are reasonable, the food is wonderful, and the staff is polite and dedicated to making your mealtime relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. And the desserts are just as satisfying! Stop in and say hello to Tonio, enjoy a meal, and become a regular patron. My wife and I have only the highest regard for La Cocina (5 stars!). We've been loyal customers for years, don't know why I never thought to rate it before (usually leave in a pleasant food-induced daze, I guess).
As I said, La Cocina was exactly what Chittenango needed back when it opened, and continues to be what Chittenango needs, now that it's firmly established. Tonio has put in the time and effort to make the restaurant a success, and continues to do so. It's a local business that I'm always...
Read moreUpon arrival we were greeted, and served our drinks. Chips and salsa were brought out, but what seemed to be a hair was in the salsa. No biggie just didn’t eat the salsa. Our meals arrived, I ordered the no.20 (taco, burrito, chilie rellano) the taco was beef and had great flavor and the cheese had a great flavor. The chicken burrito was okay, chicken a bit overcooked. The chilie rellano was excellent, pepper cooked well, and had a great tasting and amount of cheese. The sauce on top had a nice flavor too. A final mistake though, is when asked for a refill on my ice water, our waitress used the same cup as before to refill. This is a big no no in the restaurant industry. But food wise this...
Read moreWe’ve been dining at La Cocina for about 2 years. The meals are excellent and after working in the Southwest I can vouch for the authenticity.
Antonio has put together a large menu that should suit the tastes of any finicky eater. There are so many choices that it may take awhile to make a decision. My husband and I have a couple of favorite meals that we get constantly.
La Cocina serves no alcohol, and they currently just serve take out. But you will be satisfied with the portion size and the flavor. You will also receive an ample supply of Antonio’s chips and salsa with your takeout meal.
Please give this small business a chance. You will not be sorry. They are...
