We ordered a pizza for dinner from La Florentina in August, 2023. I have read reviews and wonder where this restaurant that people spoke of, actually is? We stopped in to pick up the pizza. Right off the bat, there was nobody to speak with. The only person available at first was a gentalman at the pizza oven. Let's just say that we had a major communications issue. Finally, he got a women who at least could speak with us. We picked up our pizza only to find out that a large pizza at La Florentina is what would be considered a medium or small at most places. They do not take credit cards, so you must bring cash. But they will provide you with a ATM so that you can use plastic, just not with them. I do not know what fees and such would be involved. The place didn't seem to have a lot of tables. But maybe I just missed them. Parking isn't bad for a little strip mall. But it can be difficult to get out of if headed south. When we got just up the street with the pie, we of course sampled it. I will be extremely nice and say, it was not the best we ever had. Ok, it was not good. It fell apart when you tried to pick it up. It was extremely dry, but acted like it was soggy, with little sauce. It was totally different. No oil or grease, but just fell apart. Some of the pizza had sausage, but a quarter of it had none. Cheese was thin and little sauce. Just nothing good to say other than it was sort of a pizza. So what is it that others raved about? I wondered if I should try them again and chalk it up to a bad night. But, no, I will not even try them after what they called pizza and took our money. Besides, we were leaving to head home which is many states away. I do not know anyone in the business up there. We were just visiting a relative for a few days and decided to pick a pizzeria close by. It even had good reviews. So I have to wonder why the good reviews? Who posted that this place was good. I now wonder what folks in that area feel is good?

We ordered this to go, and it was nice and hot and ready, we started eating it in the car. The dough of this place is very different than anywhere around here, since it’s fresh woodfired and delicious! I feel that there should be basil on the margarita pizza , but if not, no big deal...it was very good the cheese is a fresh and a little salty, makes for some awesome mozzarella! The whole family felt that the chicken Alfredo was very very bland, no seasoning at all ...it tasted like what a kid would order like butter noodles, there was no cheesiness taste :( but it actually looked very good, but it did not taste good, it was very disappointing. The calzone was very good I actually was worried about the marinara being inside but it it is a great balance and very delicious, and it’s flat but still good! The parmigiana pizza seems like it would taste way better if they were to finesse it a little bit the flavors are really great but way too big chunks of tomato way too big chunks of prosciutto they’re nice cut should be way more small and delicate, especially because the pizza crust is so thin that it just becomes a huge soggy mess ....and the only part that really taste good is the outside edge. Also, there should be more cheese than what we received and maybe a little less pesto, because it became again very oily and soggy. I would return here, but specifically for only certain kinds of pizzas and the calzone.

La Florentina is not your run of the mill pizza or Italian restaurant. Their unique menu options and wood roasted techniques definitely make this restaurant stand out. We have gone many times and continue to come back because of the quality of the food. The restaurant is in a more run-down location of Kingston, and the atmosphere is a bit dated and run down, but do not let that stop you from trying this place. Go for the food and you will not be disappointed. Warning the food is very good but it is also very salty, oily, and lots of garlic. There really is way too much of these ingredients, which causes it to taste amazing at first, but by the end, you wish they had used half the oil. I still love their food, but i also do not finish my serving. They do charge an extra fee if you use a credit card and the last time we went they were unable to serve alcohol which is a bit disappointing because their dishes will go great with a nice glass of wine. Hopefully, that issue will get resolved quickly.

Let's keep this simple .. we ordered 1 large cheese pizza (9/16/25 at 1700h) for takeout. We received a MEDIUM REHEATED thing, COLD to the touch, burned and charred. This was our first time trying La Florentina; only because it was named by WPDH as a "best pizza", in an article they posted.

Clearly someone lied; and is lying.

I recommend NEVER eating anything from this place; they butchered pizza, reheated it & charged us $30. Reheated. They reheated an OLD pizza. For a paying customer. Reheated.

If you're looking for a GREAT pizza pie, go to Savona's Plaza Pizza, in the Hanaford plaza uptown Kingston. Their plain cheese and plain white are THE BEST PIZZA around & can give anyone a run for their money.

La Florinta, you should be ashamed of your entire operation. We will never return, as you can't make a pizza. On a Tuesday.

WPDH ... whoever tastes and reviews the pizzerias you mentioned, is flawed at the minimum and is offering a paid endorsement at the disservice to the community.

Waste of money & time.

((Update 9/25/25))

To the management / owner, in response to your comment:

I respectfully decline discussing this any further with you, I made everything CRYSTAL CLEAR & all times and receipts VERIFY EVERYTHING. You and your restaurant are UNABLE to keep a CLEAN kitchen, use FRESH ingredients and make a FRESH cheese pizza. You and your staff REUSE pizzas, don't know the first thing about pizza crust, wouldn't know tomato sauce if you were drowning in it & have ZERO ability to know what fresh cheese is.

You even managed to burn a reheated pizza. BURN A REHEATED PIZZA. Let that process sink through your head.

I wish you luck, it's obvious you need it. I suggest reevaluating your ownership of the restaurant. You clearly are in over your head and don't know ANYTHING about food service.

I would've stayed quiet, but you couldnt handle the embarrassment of being such a FAILURE. You solicited this response, savor it.

In closing, your restaurant is dirty, uses expired ingredients, reuses old food, SAVES old food to REUSE and OVERCHARGES for the aforementioned garbage. These are ALL management and owner faults, as you are the ones responsible. Pray no one else gets sick.

Also, strong-arming me (or others) to call you and discuss this .. what's wrong with you? Your need for simple management training is eclipsed by your need to learn BASIC customer service.

Lastly, I am not some child or social media influencer that you can buy with a free meal for a 5 star review ... it's clearly your business practice. Perhaps try eating some of the garbage your kitchen puts out and you'd see why the truth...
