Los Jalapenos Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Town of Ulster

Bright and festive upon entry. I had decided on the Chilaquiles before we'd arrived as I had seen them prepared but never eaten them. Also, I was feeling Brunch-y and they are served with an egg. I was pleasantly surprised that the tortillas retained some crunch given that they are soaked in a sauce. The sauce seemed like a pureed salsa with maybe a little bit of cheese? It was supposed to be a green tomatillo sauce which I would have preferred. Nevertheless the toppings of avocado, egg, pico de gallo, and queso fresco were all fresh and tasty. Halfway through it occurred to me to add hot sauce and that ramped up the flavors. My companion had the Cobb Salad with grilled chicken. Even though it was white meat (obviously not our fav) it was tasty and moist. The avocado dressing was thin but tasty. We didn't have drinks and shouldn't have eaten the whole basket of tortilla chips and salsa while we waited. On impulse I went to Los Jalapeños Mexican Grill on Ulster Ave in Kingston yesterday afternoon. I felt welcomed even though I was a party of one (which in some places is not always the case). The chips were hot and the salsa was delicious. When I told them how tasty the salsa was they brought me some more! The service was prompt and friendly. I ordered one of the specials, grilled salmon. It came with rice, beans, avocado, pico de gallo, sour cream, fresh mango salsa, and what had to be fresh local tomato. In addition, the meal was served with a salad. The plate was arranged beautifully, but more importantly it was absolutely delicious! It was a generous portion of salmon and seasoned and cooked to perfection!. I also ordered a club soda, but they have a full bar and many tasty looking drink specials. We went last night and will not go again. We were overcharged! The food wasn’t that good. The guacamole left something to be desired, they had vegetables like broccoli in my mothers dish even though the menu didn’t state that. And our server disappeared for almost our entire meal despite there being only two other tables in the entire restaurant. Then when we went to pay we split the bill 50/50 between two cards and she charged us for another tables (more expensive) bill! Then after 15 minutes of us wondering where our cards went she came back and asked if we could just take the cash difference like we had another choice.
