La Isla Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Union

I feel like there are 2 separate cooks here. Sometimes I have their food and it's pretty good then Sometimes it's horrible and flavorless. Even still it being the only Spanish spot in the area my husband and I go once in a while. The owner however even when a regular customer does not like to accountability. I try to be very pleasant because I know how this world can be. My food was horrible recently and when I called and complained she basically made it seem like like because it was a small order it shouldn't be a big deal. Then said everyone eats at her place. I was very nice & she had a very nasty attitude. I'm Like ma'am that does not mean you or someone else can't make a mistake. Her attitude was ugly. I didn't even want a refund I was just hoping she would give me new food but now I want neither and I won't be eating here again. It...

IF your looking for a. Very pleasant place to eat this is one of them. I stopped in this place at least 2x last week. I ordered the pork with the white rice and brown beans then the chicken with yellow rice and black beans. The meats both had flavor on the skin however past that the meat was not well seasoned and kind of dry in my opinion. The rice however and beans were most definitely the stars of the show. This place has friendly staff and a hearty amount of food for the price you pay. I would skip fast food and give this place business. Only thing I recommend is maybe the cook the meats a little less if its going to sit in the warmer as even in the juices the meats tend to over cook n become dry. N maybe just a little more salt and pepper on somethings. But I will try more things here and update...

Not authentic puerto rican food at all. Not sure which island they are referencing. I live in Rochester where we have a bunch of puerto rican restaurants. I've been all over the island many times. This place does not compare.

I ate here twice, both times it was kinda ehhh. The pernil was overcooked and waaay too salty. The empanadas tasted like they were fried in old oil. The staff was not friendly at all, even when I spoke in spanish. It was like I was wasting their time. My Spanish isn't that terrible either lol!

I was hoping for a good puerto rican spot when I'm in the area monthly for work. I guess I'll keep looking or will have to wait until I go back to the ROC.
