We went to Stone's Pizza last night after reading the other great reviews. We brought hope for a better pizza in the area and snobbery being from downstate where the best pizza lives. Yay for Jost and Matt the owners who were happy to share their efforts at sourcing the best ingredients. Everything was delicious! Breads were crisp on the bottom and fluffy, light and tasty inside. The sauce was yummy. The cheese was fresh and gooey. Everything was served piping hot. We ordered grandma slices and a chicken parm hero to share. They were also very generous giving us samples of items we had not ordered so we could try a variety of things ( a regular slice and garlic knots with marinara), all yummy! It's easy to see they are working hard to be successful and they deserve it because the food is worth it. The place itself is not "atmospheric" because it's an og great neighborhood pizza store, but it is clean and nicely kept with an adorable toy pizza oven for kids so families will enjoy that. I hope this place does well so if I'm ever lucky enough to have grandkids I can bring them here. Guys that means you need to stick around because I want to eat great pizza...
Read moreMy son wanted pizza for lunch, and I wanted to give Stone's Pizza a try based on the reviews. I kept it simple with a pepperoni and sausage pie and some garlic knots.
First off, I love any NYC style pizza spot that does a long ferment on their dough. The crust had a great texture and chew to it that comes from a longer cold ferment. The pizza itself was very flavorful. I love that they used good quality cupping pepperoni. It's a much better pie in terms of quality than most other places that I've been to in Dutchess county.
The knots were also great and had a generous amount of garlic. The marinara had a great balance of sweet and acidity.
I was picking up so can't really comment on the service or atmosphere, but the staff seemed very friendly with the small interaction that I had with them.
We'll definitely be working Stone's into our regular...
Read moreI went to this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon with my kids to pick up a couple pizzas. The owners Jos and Matt were welcoming and warm. They showed genuine interest in my family and couldn't have been more hospitable. I've had some amazing pizza. Favorites include in NYC: DiFara's, Scarr's, John's of Bleecker Street, L'Industrie and Lucali. And in the Hudson Valley: Forage, Lola Pizza and Ollie's. I feel strongly that what Jos and Matt are producing deserves to be on the list of true pizza greats. The dough is perfectly chewy (no flop!), right proportion of toppings, sauce is perfectly tangy and not overly sweet. They are doing a perfectly sized menu...big enough to show variety, but not too big where you just don't feel like any of it can be executed with any level of true...
