This was my first visit to the Double O Grill. A friend of mine said it's been around for ages + suggested it for a brunch. (Frankly, I didn't know any restaurant offered brunch on a weekly basis anymore.) So, four of us decided to go for an Easter Sunday 'bruncheon.'
I did my due diligence by going onto their website. I checked out the price of the brunch ($34.95) More than I'd wanted to spend, but I decided to see what was being offered on the buffet. Unfortunately, I didn't see enough items of interest to me, to warrant the cost. I looked at the available options and discovered that the time for which we had made our reservation, afforded me the opportunity to order from the menu. This would allow me to get what I wanted at a more reasonable price. I was psyched!
The place was packed, the ambiance was lovely + the guests appeared to be enjoying themselves. So far, so good. Until our waitress apprised us that ordering from the menu was not an option; it was strictly buffet. I was pretty annoyed. I'd intentionally made my decision to go there based upon the info on their website. Well, it was too late to back out now, I'd already driven an hour to get there.
I made the best selections from the buffet possible. I was hoping the Double O would redeem itself by having stellar food selections. No. I settled for just typical side dishes and breakfast fare. Yes, there was rare steak but, I only do well done. My feeling is that if a restaurant can't be bothered to cook it then I can't be bothered to eat it. I find it hard to believe they didn't even offer one fish entree. No salmon, no trout, no fish at all. (Neither lox on a bagel nor peel + eat shrimp are entrees.)
I understand that this was a holiday and there were myriad guests, so our waitress was swamped. But there's really no excuse for guests having to wait 5-10 minutes for a server to be found just to request a coffee refill, only for it to take another 10-15 minutes to have it brought to the table. At a mandatory minimum of $34.95 plus tax, I expect the restaurant managers to be well prepared to serve their guests properly. Particularly when this restaurant has weekly brunches.
I shan't be returning neither shall I have anything nice today about...
Read moreVery upset on what I just experienced here. I placed an order online and their system is very limited to modifications as well as the kids section doesn’t allow you to put drinks. So after I placed my $114 order I called them to explain the modifications I needed and what drink my child wanted (which another employee before told me to just call and let them know to have it ready - taking their advice ) . So I called not even 5 minutes after I order and explain if I could switch the kids steamed broccoli for mixed veggies which they said they can and to add the kids drink a ginger ale and my jambalaya pasta since I can’t have mussels to add extra shrimp- which I’ve done in the past when sitting down at the restaurant as well as instead of veggies with my steak I asked for double Fries which I was able to modify online and all steak being medium . I showed up when I got the text it was ready and the girls in front clearly didn’t take down my note or care to do the modification I asked. Thankfully I checked my food before leaving and told them they didn’t change the broccoli to mixed vegetables, they didn’t give me the drink and I had to double check with the girls if that meant they didn’t even mention the extra shrimp since I removed the mussels , the one girl that stayed with me said she wasn’t the one who spoke to me and doesn’t know . No bread or bruschetta was in the bag . I also had to wait and extra 15 minutes for the mixed veggies. Also no double fries with my steak but they added veggies and steaks were well done. The point of calling was to 1. Make easier for them and to do it before the kitchen started the food and 2. To not have to bother them when’s I’m there and also to have my food ready . Highly disappointed , paying $114 for food and couldn’t get simple request done and not how I ordered my food and still having to wait for them to do something I gave them a head up for and time to do . Apologized lightly and mostly avoided eye contact with me , I was upset. It’s ridiculous. I’m not someone to get upset normally or make a big deal of things and do my best to make it easier for others but this really just was unacceptable, my words went in 1 ear and our the other to...
Read moreHad a very find dining experience. It was my husband and I first time going. We chose from the very diverse brunch menu. Excellent wait staff, I wish I could remember our particular waitress name, but I never saw her name tag or caught what her name was, but she was exceptionally good. Great personality and made sure to check on us from time to time to see if we were OK. I love how quickly the food was brought out to us, starting off with the basket of a variety of baked breads/ pastry , ranging from croissants to delectable scones. All of which were so moist and fresh. .y husband wanted a bourbon. He chose the most scrumptious bourbon drink that included Irish cream, bourbon and was adorned with a piece of waffle. The presentation of the food was very impressive. A friend that brought us there and had recommended the restaurant chose a salad that she wanted to add tuna too. Her request was readily accommodated. I had chicken and waffles. Generous proportion and chicken was tender, I felt it could have been seasoned a bit .ore to my taste, but the BBQ sauce that accompanied it, made up for the lack of season. My waffle was light and fluffy, however, I would have liked it to be warmer. I think that it was my only complaint, which I didn't bother to voice to the lovely waitress, because she had already gone above and beyond. My husband chose the cinnamon French toast. Delicious!. The portion was so generous, he had to take some home, which made it possible for me to have a taste later. The restaurant itself is impeccably clean. My husband came out of the restroom and was very impressed at the cleanliness of it. I too had the same experience when I visited the restroom. They also have effective covid protocols in place, ranging from mask requirements, ample hand sanitizer stations to social distancing. Loved the ambience with dim lighting and various choices of seat selections that include sitting at the bar or extended bar to 2 person seating to larger tables with rounded cushioned benches. Outdoor seating is also available, weather permitting. I would highly recommend this place. My husband and I have added it on to our list of must do again...
