This used to be my absolute favorite place growing up, and it partially still is. Food is usually at the least a 6/10 depending on what you get, with some of my favorites rating a 8/10. The food isn’t the problem. Since summer I’ve been to this place 3 different times, first two time the girl didn’t realize they didn’t have one item after I ordered it, so she replaced it with whatever I asked and a desert. Third time around, last night, she tells me they’re out of raviolis. No big deal, happens all the time, I’ll just get mushroom stew instead; this specific order is for my mom with a sensitive stomach and I know she likes those. After I changed my order accordingly, the lady I usually see said to the other one that I’ve never seen before “did you get all her food together? No?” And kept staring and smiling at me to take a hint instead of just telling me “we will call you over when your food is ready” They kept treating me like as if I was some special needs kid. Talking down on me, and making fun on me as soon as I walked away from the counter. I’m an adult, and I can hear you. My anxiety was horrible because of how the girls treated me (plus I was also medically high so could not think the mostly clearly) that when I finally got my food I didn’t notice she said “stuffed peppers” until after I got home. My mom can’t eat the stuffed peppers, her stomach can’t handle spicy things. The girls complimented my hair at the very end, but at this point I was so upset and shaking from how bad my anxiety was that I just quickly grabbed the food and left while saying thanks. I partially regret giving a tip, especially when she took my change without asking if I wanted it. Will not be coming back here ever if I get served by that...
Read moreWe went there at 1145am on Sunday. When we got there, there were a few people ahead of us ordering at the counter. We placed an order for two steak subs and the girl asked if it was to dine in or to go. We told her it was to dine in. We sat down and waited about 30 minutes. We were the first people to sit down and within a couple of minutes the dining room filled up with customers. After about 25 minutes literally every table had their food but us. I went to the counter to inquire why it was taking so long thinking that possibly the order was missed. The girl told me that they didn't open till noon and they had just turned the grille on. We found that odd because everyone else had already been served and secondly no one said anything to us when we ordered. I sat back down and about 5 minutes later I flagged down an employee as he walked by. I asked to speak with a manager and he said he was a manager. He was very short and unpleasant to speak with and was condescending as I politely inquired as to why it was taking so long. His only answer was, "if you want your money back, I'll give you your money back". Zero apology and he acted like we were bothering him. Venice used to be a great place to go. If this is the new way to deal with customers I'll go elsewhere...
Read moreI recently ordered a tray of greens and riggies for a bridal shower of 30 people. Once the food was served, many of the guests began to pull me aside privately and tell me that the greens were spoiled. I was mortified and tried them myself and found they were indeed sour. I saw the guests throwing plates of uneaten greens into the garbage and was extremely embarrassed. All the guests at the shower are locals to Utica, including myself, and regularly order greens at other places. I called Venice Pizza the same day when the shower had ended to report the issue and ask for a refund. I was initially told that no one else had complained about the food that day, so therefore there was nothing wrong with the food. I was offered a $25 gift card (which would not cover even half the cost of the greens). I said that a $25 gift card was not sufficient considering the food was spoiled and was all thrown away. I offered to bring the tray in person that same day, but was told not to. I was told I would receive a call from a manager the next day, but no one called. I called myself a second time and left a message, and no one has gotten back to me. I would not recommend this restaurant. Support other local businesses that serve...
