Voss BBQ — Restaurant in Town of Whitestown

I've eaten here growing up. Now I work here. The owners are awesome people. The business has been in the family since 1938 and passed down generation to generation. It's a great environment to work in. Great people who have been there 10-16 years plus. (Besides me. This is my 2nd season) Their open usually the 1st week of April till 2nd week of November. They open at 11am all season and close at 10pm till about the 2nd week of September. (Usually when school starts back up) Then they close at 9pm for the next month. Then for the last 2 weeks of October they close at 8pm. And from around November 1st till the 2nd week of November they close at 7pm till their done for the season which is usually mid November. And closed for the winter till their back at it in April 😉 It's a great place to eat and work! Very well run. Very organized. Very clean. Very fast and efficient. No phone. Lots of parking. No kids menu but have a lot of different options kids would enjoy. My kids DEFF enjoy their food. They have fresh fish on Fridays. And also have 2 other locations-One in the Utica Zoo on the Parkway Utica NY 13501 and one in Ilion NY on some water front that I've been too and is very relaxing and beautiful. (Sorry I don't remember the name of the exact spot) I just know I'm very honored and thankful to have had the opportunity for to have been able to be apart of their family and business these last 2 seasons! Sorry this is so long but I wanted people to know how awesome the owners/employees and their business really are from my own personal experience!...

Tl;dr: Voss is always great, quality is just as high as ever, bit of a wait for your food but worth it.

Voss is always a treat. It's a little windy outside today but worth the wait. I ordered a chili cheeseburger and fries with a strawberry shake which were all great. We also ordered a hot dog and hamburger which were both good. If you've been here before, the quality hasn't changed, it's still as good as ever. If you haven't been before, it's definitely a nice place to get lunch/dinner and ice cream, just be prepared to wait a little while since the lines are always long and they cook to order. They got new plastic tables so there's nowhere to write your name like the old wooden ones; I was surprised to find I was a little sad about that. They still only accept cash but there's an ATM. Tax is included in the menu price which I find to be a convenience...

This place is ok. Definitley not great anymore. Years ago they had super cheap food. Now its priced too high and its not real bbq. Putting bbq sauce on deli meat on a freighofers hamburger role is not bbq. When those sandwiches were $2 it was great because thats all its worth, now I would skip it. The fries are still good and I love the birch beer. Just not as good as it was 10 years ago....

Edit 2024 season: I raise my rating to 4 stars because even though this is not cheap like before, its on par with other fast food establishments... they also have an option for Zweigles hot dogs now which are fantastic. I had 3 chili dogs this summer and they are damn good.... I still miss the old prices, I usually spend $14 for lunch, thats 1 chili dog, 1 ham bbq, one small fry and a medium birch beer. Expensive for sure but I feel the...
