202 Diner — Restaurant in Town of Yorktown

If I could give 0 stars i would! Me and my friends showed up last night after going to a haunted house to grab some food. Unaware that they now close at 1030 at night we showed up at about 1015. Upon realizing we told them no big deal we will leave because we felt bad they were trying to close. The guy who greeted us who I assumed to be the manager on duty assured us it was fine and they would be happy to serve us and got us a table. Keep in mind there were other people in the diner. First off it took the waiter a while to come to the table. When he got there I was still unsure of what I was going to eat because the menu was big and I'll admit we were talking. He came to the table very rude and just wait "what do you want" with a horrible additude. Then I continued to say I need a minute. He then proceeded to tap his watch in my face and said "no,no,no. No time you order now. I won't wait for you we want to go home" immediately my boyfriend got up and said forget this and we left. Being in the industry my whole life and waiting tables I get how much it sucks when a table comes in and you want to go home. We offered to leave and find another place because we all felt bad. But were assured it was fine. This was completely horrible and un professional. Sure to say I will never eat here again. Upon walking out the man who I assumed was the manager he was very nice and told us he would get us another waiter if we stayed but we declined. And then the waitress behind him said thank god I'm ready to leave. Like I stated I've waited tables for years so I understand but you do not say those things especially out loud and you are never rude to a paying customer. This morning I told one of my friends about what happened and he said he never goes to this diner because they are highly rude and terrible service and food. I am disgusted with this place and will never go or recommend anyone to go...

If I wrote this the first week that they were opened I would have given them four stars. The food and service was good. My husband and I have been back five more times, and it's going down hill rapidly. There is a bus girl who appears annoyed anytime we ask for anything. A few times we had a waitress who doesn't understand English at all and kept bringing us the wrong things. She was very sweet so we gave up correcting her. Today I ordered pancakes (which I have had several times and enjoyed them). Today it was tasteless and started to taste like rubber. It must have been microwaved, YUCK. I asked for extra crispy bacon. It came very greasy, not at all crispy and extremely fatty. I sent it back and it came back ok. Good waitress today but crabby bus girl who rolled her eyes when we asked to see our waitress. Everytime I visited this diner, I ordered tea. Not once has the waitress asked if I wanted more hot water.

My husband plans to post his own review. We soooooo looked forward to this diner opening. Sadly, my husband and I won't be back, nor will we recommend to family and friends. If you happen to eat gluten free don't even ask for gluten free bread, I was told that they won't be getting it. Pastels will remain our favorite in the area. Food is always delicious and the staff has always been wonderful. Tonight however was a little different. I was paying my bill at the front desk- the tall, caucasion gentleman with glasses (who is there often) was taking payment from me. He was cracking jokes and commented on our choice of dessert agreeing that it was a very good choice- very likeable and pleasant. I paid with a card and signed the bill and handed it back to him. I left the "tip" section blank because I left cash on the table for my server. As my friend and I were walking out, the door slowly closing behind us as we're exiting the restaurant, he pointed to us and turned to the kitchen area and yelled "they left no tip!". Extremely rude considering A. the tip was on the table, B. he does not know me or my financial status and C. we hadn't even fully walked out of the restaurant yet. I don't think his intention was for us to hear him, and I'm not going to say I'm perfect and haven't made comments to a coworker at my own job before about a customer.. but at least wait til we're out of the building. Gave 5 stars for the food and the usual great experience.. But I'm very insulted by the comment...
