We've been regular visitors to the cabin for years, often visiting at least four times a month. However, our recent experiences have been deeply disappointing. Last week we were served stale bread, Today our food was left on the counter just sitting there while we were waiting for watching people go in and out in and out with their orders, but that’s not really why I’m leaving this review. When I simply asked if i can sub tuna instead of brisket over the phone, the response from the employee was no we can’t do that only avocado ( i didn’t want to eat meat today) instead of the brisket, I received four thin slivers of avocado as a replacement. in addition, we had asked for extra toppings on the bowl, despite our polite request for extra toppings, we were met with a measly portion of toppings (less than a teaspoon). When my husband attempted to address the issue in person, showed a them a photo he was met with hostility and resistance from the staff member. This unacceptable behavior has left us feeling awful. We weren’t expecting it for free of course that’s why I asked for extra. The employee seemed more concerned about going back-and-forth on how they measure out the ingredients I guess 75% of rice makes sense to them, but who knows. The employee then told my husband today was the last day they were serving the bowl, so maybe that’s why the bowl was terrible they didn’t care to make it good. That’s the impression that I got from it. Additionally, the worker handed my husband a half-quart container of sautéed spinach and mushrooms that went with none of our meals. Thanks i guess ?! we didn’t ask for that. I would’ve preferred The toppings for my bowl.
Today’s interaction was shocking. At $22 for a brisket sandwich and $16 for a bowl that's 75% dissatisfactory, despite our willingness to pay for additional toppings, we will be skipping future visits altogether. It's disheartening because this place used to be our...
Read moreSorry- I had high expectations just seeing this place from the road- Excellent sense of arrival- signage "Smoked Meats Sandwiches "! The rustic Texas BBQ look, typical ranch items as lawn ornaments, fantastic hand written menus the size of a wall. Overheard an Associate recommend the West Coast Brisket Sandwich so I ordered it. Ordered a full size ( grinder roll) with fries. The servers were fantastic- hard working, smiles, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the sandwich was a big fail. The ratio of filler to brisket was horrible. Way too much lettuce, tomato, pickles, russian dressing sauce and thick grinder roll bread all drowned out the thinly sliced layer of meat. I swear I could not even taste the brisket. ..and the small amount didn't even cover the width or length of the bread. The fries looked good- thin Julienne cuts- but they were room temp if not cold and since they were so thin and soft I suggest offering plastic forks to help diners pick them up. Have you ever had an Italian grinder and the proscioutto and other meats are like 3 to 4 inches thick? The brisket was barely a 1/8" inch layer. The price of $21.99 should have been enough to sink my teeth into a thick multi- layer of tasty, smoked beef brisket. At other BBQ places for that much you get a platter with 2 meats, beans, potato salad or corn on the cob and corn bread! Sorry-maybe the preparer missed the recipe...
Read moreDepending on what time you are here, you get different atmospheres. It seems during the lunch rush there is no time do anything except order and wait. If you happen by the store on a quiet time they staff are fun and jovial. The small size is its best asset, especially during the summer when you can eat outside on the picnic tables. Very nice. I've been here multiple times and ordered something different every time. If you are looking for a Jewish delicatessen, this is not it. This is more of a slow cooked meat BBQ sandwich place. I've always ordered something sort-of on the menu, and then customized the sandwich to what I want. The price is more than a Panera, but I felt that the quality was MUCH better as well. There is no "pre-prepared" food feel (if that makes any sense). A little tidbit, if you are here early enough, the smell from the meats smoking is heavenly! Basically, the food is good, service is quick (even during lunch rush) and the ambiance, while sometimes chaotic, is comfortable to compliment the food. OH YEAH, don't forget the fresh watermelon juice, or Horchata. Both...
