I have worked in downtown Trenton daily for nearly a quarter of a century and have lived in the vicinity for longer still. In that time, I have been on a quest for a lovely little cafƩ where I could comfortably spend time and decompress - a search that has borne little fruit over its lifetime, until I discovered Slammin Brew.
First and foremost ā the staff here is amazing. The incredibly friendly, attentive, genuinely kind people working behind the counter give this establishment a warm and inviting charm every single day. No matter what time of day, or which day of the week, you will find a friendly face and a warm welcome.
In addition to their stellar demeanor, they are really very good at what they do. The drinks are consistently amazing ā crafted with mindful intent that you can really sense in the final product. Food offerings are also just delightful; with everything from fresh pastries and fruit to hand made sandwiches and meals, thereās always something right to eat.
Adding to the overall warmth is the dĆ©cor ā comfortable ample seating including a big comfy couch and a TV with a rotating gambit of movies and tv shows, a rotating collection of art on the walls that brings fresh zest into the space, and a bright and inviting space make it easy to walk in but so hard to leave ā itās just a lovely place to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI work in a near by office and came here for lunch today- ordered a PBJ sandwich and it took the girl about 20 minutes, which to be fair it was busy in there so I get it but thatās about as long of a lunch break that many people in the area get so those wait times can be inconvenient for many. My main reason for the one star is that the girl making my food had a long pink pony tail that was shedding on her pants- her hair wasnāt tied up properly and so there were hairs visibly all over her clothes in the food station. In the middle of making my sandwhich she pulled out a dirty cleaning rag and started wiping down surfaces with it then continued to make my sandwhich with the same glovesā¦.i asked her what that was about it and she said it was a cleaning product so was therefore hygienic to be dipping in and out of while making food??? Iāve worked in restaurants long enough to know that isnāt hygienic, itās a dirty cleaning rag, I mean come on?? There needs to be glove changes in between cleaning surfaces with a dirty rag and making someoneās food right in front of them. Gentleman offered to remake it for me but I had to get back to the office as I wasted my entire lunch break there. Wasted time and money there today, pretty...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThoroughly excellent coffee shop and breakfast spot. In my visit, I tried their hot flat white and hot latte, both with whole milk. Their espresso is excellentā smooth, flavorful, and roasted properly (unlike āļøšµ up the street). I also tried their breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese on a kaiser roll). Normally, Iām not crazy about kaiser rolls but this one was SO fresh, it slapped me. I tend to be hyperbolic, but no lie, this was the best BEC Iāve ever had, and Iāve been living in NJ for nearly 3 decades so thatās no small accolade. They have pastries that are equally as freshā I tried their cheese danish and it was divine. Their hours are fantastic (open at 6:30 so you can get your caffeine before work), the shop features art from local artists which gets rotated every month, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Itās a clean space, they play good music, honestly I could write a book about how great this place is. Skip major coffee chains and get your...
