My family and I are in town on vacation and there's not a lot of food options, and my kids wanted pizza. Without driving 30 minutes, this seemed to be the only option. I wanted carry out and went down there to order.
There was a line out the door and stood outside for a couple minutes just waiting for the hostess to seat people. By the time I got up to the counter I found a sign that said "all carry out orders are done online". That's cool, just wish I knew that before waiting that long. I went back out to my car to order only to find a complicated ordering process that wouldn't even let me order what I wanted. I have picky children, so our go-to is half-cheese half-pepperoni.
I was trying to order the family special which comes with a large 2-topping pizza, breadsticks, and your choice of a 2-liter or four fountain drinks. I wanted the fountain drinks. I went back inside and started telling the hostess what I was trying to do and she cut me off saying that they only do the online orders when they're busy but that she wasn't right now so she can take my order "if I'm quick".
I told her what I wanted and all she kept saying was that the system wouldn't let her do that and interrupting me every time I would try to talk.
After she finally figured it out, she asked me what 2-liter I wanted. I said I wanted the four fountain drinks and she told me that they only do the 2-liters. Why is it an option on the website then?
After I paid she gave me the credit card slip to sign. Now I don't know what kind of customs there are here in Utah, but where I'm from if I didn't get a wait service OR exceptionally good service, there's no obligation to tip. After I signed with no tip, I heard her say "thanks for the tip" in a sarcastic tone. And I don't know what kind of world this lady lives in but it's NEVER ok to publicly shame a customer for not leaving a tip, even if I'm in the wrong for not doing so.
It should be easy to order the pizza that I ordered. It's like a default option that is available literally every other pizza place I've been to, and this restaurant is named Pizza Place.
Other than the terrible service I received from the hostess, the decor I could see was pretty bland, but the pizza was...
Read moreAte here tonight as we have one night in Tropic before heading on with our road trip. The place was really busy and we had to wait around 20 mins to be seated - fair enough. However once at the table our order wasn’t taken for another 10 mins, despite a nearby table being seen to straight away. We asked for a 2 litre bottle of soda but were told this was only for take away, and then watched as another table were served this?! Our pitcher (for the same price) was half ice. We then waited over half an hour to be brought our “bread sticks” starter. The waiter was apologetic but mumbled something about the kitchen being crazy and a mix up? We were only half way through the starter when our mains turned up. 2 minutes later the waiter came back to ask how the mains were… We said we don’t know as we are still finishing the starter! After this no one came back for the rest of the meal. I wish I could say despite the delays the food was good. The breadsticks starter (effectively pizza dough with cheese was great and the only reason really for the 2 stars.) The pizza my husband ordered was good, however my pasta was the worst pasta dish I’ve ever eaten! It was penne Alfredo “loaded with veggies”. Well, the veggies were frozen broccoli (mostly chunks of stalk), cauliflower and disgusting carrots where you could taste the freezer water. I’m not fussy but when a pasta dish is described as coming with veggies, frozen carrots don’t spring to mind. The sauce itself I’m pretty sure came out of a jar. The best part was the small portion of artichokes I paid $3.99 extra for but at least they were tasty. Needless to say I picked out the pasta and left the veg - and I only ate the pasta because I’m 7 months pregnant and at this point was over an hour since we had first turned up to eat so was starving! The pizza is okay, but avoid the...
Read moreWe spent the day at Bryce canyon. We arrived for dinner around 5:30pm with empty bellies and full appetites. Reviews seemed good so we thought we'd give it a try. Will say service is very poor. We stood for a pretty long time right by the door in what seemed like arctic temperatures. We had decided to just order out. This was apparently a HUGE problem. We were rudely sent back to the front where the some angry lady took our order. I paid my bill and she turned around and asked if I wanted to leave a tip "for the staff "... This is a first, for a to go order at that. I'm not sure if they need some extra money to keep the air conditioning set to 45 degrees. While we were waiting in, what felt like time out, for a misbehavior another customer came in. The poor old man asked very kindly in order to go. The angry lady told him that he needs to check online and the menu is at the wall. As travelers we had definitely done research into the policies of ALL the local fine dining options. Needless to say he had struggled to place an order; he forgot his reading glasses and was calling us wife who was now going to come and help him to order. That angry lady who was frantically looking for her hair brush continued to ignore our hero while he also tried to order his food. If you choose to dine in they're very nice and helpful, just bring your winter coats and mittens. Pizza itself wasn't bad. We got a margarita. Sauce was decent, crust was thin but not dry. It was overall alright. It hit the spot if you're hungry, but if I was planning out food places I'd probably research other places too. My main gripe was it seemed like they used low moisture mozz instead of fresh mozz on the margarita. It's kind of a big deal, but I was fine with it. Idk. I guess there's a Subway...
