Been a regular here for years, but no more. We order basically the same thing everytime. It was late, after a long day of heavy work, and we decided to treat ourselves to take out. I make the 6 mile round trip and get home with $31 worth of food (usually closer to $50), start dishing it up and get half way through only to discover that there is no sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken- UGH!!!!
Mistakes are made and this is only the 2nd time this has happened here, but what turned me off forever is how they handled it. She wanted me to bring back ALL the food and get a fresh meal since I pointed out that my food is on the plate getting cold while all this is going on. Again, it is late and we are tired- this is going very sideways. I am not going to spoon all the individual food back into the boxes- I am already out time, energy and gas- so much for treating ourselves. I pick up the boxes and head back to the restaurant , already unhappy. Why didn't they just comp the next dinner or something that showed they care about the customer?
When I get there, there is no meal and she starts digging around in the boxes and asking for the rest of the food. I ask if she were serious because i had just been there and only had time to go home and serve it up, etc.. She says we already ate some and that she wouldn't replace food i didn't return. At that point i am flat astonished at their customer service and told her so. We went back and forth and I let her know what an inconvenience/cost their mistake had caused and that their goal should be to take care of the customer. She would not back down and treated me as if I was trying to rip them off which as a long time, regular customer was just not OK. She wanted to know if i wanted her to heat up the old food I brought back??? Serious!
I told them that I own a business (truth) and if the slightest thing happens that affects my customer in a negative way happens, my fault or not, I am all over making it right and it costs me big at times, not just a meal or two, because that is customer service. Finally, I said just bring me the sauce and I will never come back. She scurried off to the kitchen, but didn't return promptly so I just walked out. One has to wonder, why were they so intent on having the first food back- it isn't like they could re-sell it (we hope). When a business makes a mistake- just fix it with a bonus recognizing that you caused the customer grief of any kind. We had been going there for years and would have continued, but no place that values me that little will get another dime of my money.
For the record, there is another Chinese place in Troutdale that did something similar years ago and we have never been back there either. What is with the Chinese restaurants in Troutdale and lack of customer service? They seem to need buyer beware signs because once they have the cash, they no longer...
Read moreDon’t waste your money. This is the third time I have been here since moving into the neighborhood 4 years ago. Well, three strikes and you are out. This food is awful. I don’t know why we gave them and second and third chance.
The fried rice wasn’t even fried. It was some white rice with a few tiny bits of egg and red pork with maybe a splash of soy sauce. The rice also had a weird aroma that I can’t explain.
The orange chicken was DISGUSTING. Giant breaded pieces, and in the center of the bread is a pea sized piece of over cooked chicken. The sauce was gross and tasted like gelatinous Smuckers Marmalade mixed with Orange Koolaid.
The Char Siu red pork was over cooked and dry (almost like it was yesterdays leftovers) some of the pieces were hard like beef jerky. We were supposed to get Egg Drop Soup. That didn’t make it in our bag. The lady at the checkout counter kept telling us she was out of fortune cookies. The cookies aren’t a big deal. I think you need to put more priority on finding a new chef/cooking staff.
I NEVER leave reviews for restaurants. But I felt compelled to leave a review to warn people not to waste your time or money...
Read moreMy husband and I used to frequent this Chinese Restaurant because its close to our house and the food was good.
It's been a few weeks since we've eaten there (and quite a few months prior to that visit) until tonight. We ordered two chicken meals. My husband's (the "dinner special" almond chicken) was so hard, he couldn't bite into it or even cut it with a fork. It was completely inedible. My sesame chicken had a bad aftertaste and left a disgusting film on the top of my mouth. The rice was mushy and the fried rice had no flavor whatsoever.
It was absolutely horrible. We called to let them know and ask for a refund. The food was bad, plain and simple. We even offered to drive back and SHOW them. They refused. They refused to do anything to rectify the situation in any way. We will NEVER go back and we'll make sure none of our friends or family do either.
STAY AWAY. Szechuan Kitchen on Powell and Burnside is much better. Skip Wu's and go there. You...
