Ate at Better Burger in Troy yesterday. Got food poisoning. Woke up at 2:00am with awful stomach pains and now can’t be more then a few steps from the bathroom at any time and I am miserable. Called the restaurant and the owner had left by 10 am. Left a message explaining and asking the staff to call the owner and have them call right away. In the 40 minutes I’ve waited so far I’ve found they shut their reviews off 3 years ago (pre Covid!) for issues I saw at the restaurant yesterday. Anyone had experiences with reporting a restaurant to the health department? Guess I have to wait until Monday to do that?
Update: owner called me. Whitney Harris. I heard about how it was the concert in Troy and that’s why the restaurant was not clean. The concert was 2 hours after I was there. I asked why they didn’t call her when a customer suspected food poisoning. She told me they are only have kids working there. She also said she heard food poisoning takes 24 hours and they wear gloves. I didn’t see any when I was there. I heard it was a bad day yesterday. I heard many excuses. She kept wanting to explain why. I did not hear an apology or anything of the sort. She did offer to pull cameras to check and see if they wear gloves like they should. That’s her fix for what happened yesterday. Not even a refund for a badly cooked meal was offered. I told her i was not happy with her lack of accountability and hung up. She called back. I told her to talk to the health department Monday. She said she would. You couldn’t pay for my meal and have me eat Better Burger again. I’d also like to challenge her to turn her reviews on Facebook back on. It’s curious that they were turned off 3 years ago. That’s pre-...
Read moreOnce upon a time, this restaurant was probably making a better burger than they are currently. It's a tired place with disinterested staff. Dirty and in poor condition. I purchased a hamburger with onion rings and a chocolate milk shake. The bun was plain, cheap, and stale. Discount variety. The patty was small and thin and had a small amount of a Sloppy-Joe type meat sauce covering the patty for some reason. The toppings were equally as scarce and unfreash as the meat. The onion rings were fair. Probably factory produced and frozen. The chocolate milk shake was questionable for containing neither chocolate nor milk. IDK. The price was less than ten bucks. The cost to the health of the consumer and community is to be determined. Please clean it up and do the needed repairs. Like fix the commode in the ladies' room. Change a little more and spend a little more. The place has potential. But for now, I recommend you, the consumer, to pass on...
Read moreI got the steak burger and fried mushrooms. The burger was good, steak thin and tender to just chew thru. The mushrooms were good but over priced for the serving size. Got a drink in a cup and the cup was stuffed of ice so very little drink. Luckily you can get a refill, would be a waste if was carry out. Their inspection score was a 96, it's an older building so there are cleanliness issues like the amount of dust built up on the light fixture brackets located in the kitchen. I'm certain we must have gotten there soon after a lunch rush as most of the tables were dirty (only three being used) when we arrived. The staff were extremely friendly. The issues I noticed were not a show stopper because, lunch rush, and more than likely I would see similar if not the same issues across the street at the Bojangles. Others got cheeseburgers and hotdogs and liked the food. Will visit again and try the Chuckwagon...
