Izumi Sushi recently opened on the Monroe Turnpike, and it’s a great spot for casual dining or takeout with quality sushi, Japanese entrees, and boba teas. They also just got their liquor license as well! Make sure to take advantage of the coupons available on their paper menus - $5 off any purchase of $35 or more or 10% off your entire bill! We’re giving away 2 $25 gift cards over on my IG! #foodofct #trumbull #fairfieldcounty #connecticut #sushitok

*edit: I want to thank the owner for such a great response. And I also wanted to make sure it is understood by people reading this review, that the food got 5 stars. I will absolutely return because of this and I have faith based on the owners response that my next visit will be better and I will be proud to update and change my review based on that visit. * Ok, I waited until I had been here a second time to see if the first visit was a fluke. It was not. Let me first say, the sushi is delicious. I would recommend they use a bit less lettuce as filler in the sushi, if you use too much, it takes away from the roll, in my humble opinion. So yes, the food is good. But here is what I would love for them to improve. I would love to be greeted. During both visits, I was standing there for 30 minutes and not acknowledged once. It is common in Japanese tradition in Japanese sushi restaurants to be greeted as you walk in the door. The fact that myself and all other patrons waiting for their orders were ignored for such a long time was dissapointing and frustrating. There is truly no good place for people waiting for their take out order to stand. The only option is to stand next to the tables were people are dining. So your only option is to stand facing away from them or with your side to them. Either way it's an awkward dining experience for the patron sitting down. Would you want someone's rear next to your table while you eat? If the owners are reading this, maybe you could please consider this if you happen to decide to rearrange the restaurant. You could possibly remove the last table and have a bench lining the side wall so people waiting for their takeout orders can sit to the side and not stand next to your dining patrons. Just a suggestion. They need more staff. And they need to adjust the wait times on their online ordering and for people calling in. I cringed when the server took someone's phone order and told them 30 minutes. The wait time of 30 minutes is not at all achievable yet. People will understand if you tell them it's a longer wait time. What they are upset about it being told their food will be ready in 30 minutes. And then once arriving, waiting another 40-60 minutes in addition to the original promise of 30 minutes. Yes. Both of my visits were take-out. And here is why. The patrons who are coming to dine in are also not thrilled about the service. Some eveb leaving because the service was so slow. Again. Please hire more staff. But if you're willing to wait. The food is good.

Came here with a group of friends and our kids on a Friday night. The place isn’t entirely family or kid friendly. Definitely more of a 2-4 people kind of place or just take out. It’s super small and just not enough space for a big family. Moving on to the food. It was actually veeeery good. I started off with the Sushi Sandwich and the sushi was super fresh, flavors were there and I definitely would go back just for this. I then ended with a NY Strip Hibachi Dinner and it was amazing. It was the right amount of sweetness you expect from a teriyaki sauce. Steak was cooked perfectly, veggies and fried rice were great. The actual service was not the best. Not sure if it was a miscommunication between the staff to the chefs. As a group, there was a delay with the hibachi noodles and another hibachi dinner. It’s as if the kitchen never got it. They eventually brought the noodles for my friends but we cancelled the second dinner because we had already finished most of our meals. All in all, I’d prob do take out and go on my way. The food was great but if this place was in a bigger location, they’d do great.

I had an incredible dining experience at Izumi sushi From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was welcoming—clean, modern, and relaxed, with just the right amount of energy.

The sushi? Absolutely top-notch. Every piece was fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The tuna and salmon melted in my mouth, and the specialty rolls were creative without being overdone. I especially loved the sushi tempura and California roll packed with flavor and a perfect blend of textures.

The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Our server took the time to explain the specials and made great recommendations.

This place clearly values quality, and it shows. Whether you’re a sushi lover or a first-timer, Izumi delivers an experience that’s worth every penny. I’ll definitely be back soon! And thank you for the bubba tee my kids...
