I’m had friends visiting from New York, so we stopped by this gelato shop. The gelato itself was excellent smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. After trying a couple of samples, my friends actually bought even more gelato because they enjoyed it so much.
What took away from the experience was the lack of hospitality. When we asked for samples, the owner gave us nasty looks, and the server laughed and said, “no more,” which felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. We weren’t just there to sample and leave we were genuine paying customers who supported the business after tasting. I fully understand the challenges of running a small business and that samples can’t be unlimited. A clear policy, like “3 samples per person,” would be completely reasonable. What isn’t reasonable is making customers feel uncomfortable for asking. Hospitality is just as important as the product, and a simple smile or friendly tone would have made all the difference. The gelato itself deserves 5 stars, but the attitude and lack of hospitality brought the experience down. With better customer service, this place could truly shine and continue to build loyal customers, both local...
Read moreRude and unprofessional. As other reviewers have mentioned, 30+ flavors is a lot. You would think the front desk employee would have been more friendly and patience. I even gave them a tip when I ordered first. Once I purchased my scoop, my husband had an even worse experience. He walked in and was ignored. After waiting for some time, he had asked if he could try and flavor while another couple seemed undecided and the employee said: “No, get back in line”. My husband went outside and said to me: “Let’s leave, I don’t think I’m welcomed here and I should have been treated better”. To be honest, I brushed it off because I had the same experience when I walked at first. I should have said something.
If you open a business, treat your customers right and acknowledge them. Or hire the right employees who will guide your customers and be patient. If you decide to have over 30 flavors then you need to expect your customers to have questions. At the end of the day, we the community decide whether your...
Read moreOur daughter is allergic to multiple food items, and Deluca Gelato was able to accommodate her with their wide array of non-dairy, nut free, gluten free, and egg-free options.
Most of all, I appreciate their attention to avoid cross contamination. All dairy free and nut free options were separate from other options, there are dedicated scoops for each flavor, the server washed her hands and a new scoop (to be extra safe) before serving my daughter her ice cream. Also, all their ice cream is made in-house, and they have a schedule to make non-dairy, nut free ice cream first before their other flavors. In addition they said they double sanitized their ice cream making equipment after each batch is ran.
Deluca Gelato, thank you for making it possible for my daughter to feel included in the fun of going to an ice cream shop and enjoying a treat every once in a while. You have found a new loyal...
